hello everyone, I'm having a major problem with this lincoln, my heat worked fine all of a sudden it stops, from what i've read on the forums it seem like the DCCV was gone bad, so I replaced that and also put in a new thermostat. After all of that im still not getting heat, the pipes running in to the heater core is not hot or warm when i touch them, i also disconnected the hoses going to the heater core to see if any water would leak and none is coming from the pipes or out of the heater core. I have no idea what to do or try next,, i also bleed the water lines as recommended as well.. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

V8 or V6?
How did you bleed the heater circuit if there is no water flowing in it?
When were the degas bottle, the thermostat housing, and the radiator hoses last replaced?
Are you ever having to add coolant?

i bleed the cooling system,i got water going thru the motor, when i bleed the coolant i also got a steady stream from the bleeding line,i just put the thermostat in there about a week ago.never replaced the housing or degas bottle. its a v8 to by the way

Doesn't add up. The engine bleed working, I understand. But it seems like either the heater bleed wouldn't work (shoot coolant out) or your statement that there was no water (coolant) in the heater lines and core would have to be incorrect. The heater bleed is the plastic screw at the end of the line next to the degas bottle.

Anyway, you can be sure that your degas bottle is cracking and not letting the cooling system build pressure. Once you fix that, the other old parts will probably fail. I'm surprised that the engine fill/bleed didn't crack when you screwed it back down.

It's also possible that your aux pump has failed.

yeah what i was trying to say is the heater core dont seem to be getting water and yes when i took the plastic screw out of the heater bleed i did get a stream of water coming out, I will try to see if the degas bottle is cracked and you dead right about that engine fill cap, that thing cracked as soon as pressure got on it good, another thing you mention is something i thought of to is that aux pump, how can i check that to see if its working properly..thanks for the help tho.really need to get this fixed its getting cold now

Similar Prob

I hear lots of people say they get heat at freeway speeds but i don't get it at all.I've been thru the coolant system and plan to replace the DCCV and Aux pump and hopefully that solves it or at least gets me closer to an end.I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I'm still working on the heat in my 2000 lincolon ls, i checked for cracks and leaks and not seeing any leaks besides the engine fill cap which cracked when i put it back on, but now im getting super hot water flowing to the heater core, all 3 pipes are hot once the car warms up. Every now a then a lil burst of heat will come out the vents, but other than that im still freezing my bunz off in this cold car.lol any other suggestions or things i should look at?

1. Even when you know exactly what signs your are looking far (most don't), you still won't always be able to find the cracks. I couldn't see the cracks in the plastic cooling parts (except for the degas bottle). I was only able to find them by looking for the very slight white power like stains on the parts. Even then, I replaced all the plastic parts at the same time, as they all fail at about the same time too. For all I know, I missed seeing one of the bad parts, but it all worked out because I replaced them all anyway.

2. A bunch of people have reported that hot coolant was flowing in the heater hoses, when it wasn't. You can't tell just by feeling the hoses. They are in the hot engine bay and will feel hot after the engine warms up, no matter what. If hot coolant was really circulating through the heater cores, you would get hot air out (assuming that you have any air coming out of the vents).

Thanks for replying Joegr, I understand what your sayiing about the pipes and things that T-Pipe in the front that kinda looks like cardboard is something I plan to replace soon, as far as water thru the heater core, i took the dash half apart and the pipes are hot all the way into the heater core not just under the hood in the engine bay, it also blows out some heat for a while but when i get going on the road it seems to cool down and blow luke warm air again.

did you do the ac diagnostic test yet and see what codes come up? did you get a new dccv or a used one? there is a plastic mesh in the upper radiator hose and that can get clogged up and not allow enough coolant to go to the dccv. do you get airflow in the cabin when you put the fan on high?
