Hey- i was thinkin of putting a 160 degree t-stat in my car, since i have an sct xcal2 and 2 step colder plugs. Anybody know any part numbers or where to go about getting one? Also, i was thinking, would the fan work well with the 160 stat? wouldnt it still kick on to match the factory stat? just wondering cause i notice a lot of you guys run the 160. thanks!

Alot of us also don't as well. In your part of the world I would advise you stay with the stock setup, if for no other reason than to build some heat into the motor sooner during winter driving conditions. Remember they all open at a specified temp. the 160 opens a little sooner that's all.

I have a 180 stat from Jet (part # 10170) that I have not installed yet, I bought it when I bought their stage 2 chip, which I did install-my 96 generally runs around 200 degrees most of the time after warmup. I know this because I have a Davis CarChip XP which will monitor, among other things, engine temp as you drive which you can download into a graph . I haven't installed the thermostat because the engine, I thought, will still run at around 200, won't it? All a 180 will do is START to open at 180, and will be fully open at around 190-195. Even with a 160, would that really change what the engine generally runs at?

Yes it helps especially if you get a chip to turn on the fan earlier as well.

ive got an xcal2... if i remember right you can have to fan turn on earlier- that seems like it would help the cause
