1 bad gear change = a whole week of fun!!!

Last Thursday I decided to drive to Costa Mesa and go see the movie The Dictator, on my way to the movies, someone cut me off trying to fly across 2 lanes of traffic to get into the gas station and I had to slam on the brakes. While I slammed on the breaks my car was in the middle of changing gears, and the transmission hit so hard into a gear that I thought someone may have rear ended me! After stopping the car and getting out and screamin a few choice words at this SOB, I got back in the car and saw that the select shift screen hand an E in it. I decided to drive on to the movies and park the car and leave the battery cable unhooked while I was in the movie so maybe it would reset everything. Well I get back out to the car and hook everything back up and when I went to back outta my parkin spot my car shifted so hard into reverse that it squeaked the tires. So I called AAA and had my car towed to the ford dealer… I decided to take a field trip to the dealer today to check on everything and was able to take some pics… In one box they and all the F’ed up parts, and pieces of the tranny where everywhere.

You had an over-pressure event, and most likely wiped out the planetary set. Make sure you have the valve body gone over with a TransGo kit, as that adds a relief valve that is supposed to prevent that from occurring. It also includes an upgrade for the pump. Also make sure the bore and sleeve the servos as long as the transmission is pulled.
 
I just got a call from the ford service department… I’m gonna need a whole new transmission. The service advisor said it would cost just as much to replace all the internals as it would to buy a remanufactured transmission. So im getting a reman trans from the dealer with a 3 year 100K warranty. I should have my car back by the end of next week! Atleast im enjoying a nice BMW loaner car!

Sucks to hear about the transmission...so the dealer loaned you a bimmer??
 
I got a 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty when i got the car, so Im not paying for a thing. I actually work for a used exotic car dealer in Newport Beach so Ive just been driving one of the cars we have in inventory.

What hood? I see a trunk.

And you challenge people's knowledge of cars ...hmmm

Wow, We certainly can't get anything past you! The car on the right does have a BMW roundel on the trunk. It's a Grey 2010 528I... The car on the left is a Mercedes S550, maybe you missed the Silver on Black part of my post, or you just assumed that you knew what car we were talking about without taking a good look at the picture to see that there is a silver car on the left side of the photo... And yes, I certainly do work at an exotic used car dealer... I took these pics for ya while Im here at work :-)
