1/8 mile time?

I tried brake torquing once but it did the same thing. As soon as I let off the brakes the car fell flat on its face. I planned on buying the K&N intake from Ken next, but if the SCT will eliminate off the line hesitation, that might be my next purchase. The car really did seem to move once it got going. Two other things I forgot to mention. It was 97 degrees and about 80% humidity that day. People tell me that prolly played a toll on my times also. Do you think magnaflows will be very beneficial? I thought the 03+ cars already had a good exhaust system.

They do but the Magnaflows sound so gooooodd..... :D

my 03 is slow as crap recently especially when it's hot out. those times are pretty bad and mine would probably be worse. if you have 0 power in the lowend you might check your coils.

It's not zero power. Its just a bad hesitation. Once the car actually moves it feels good. I think I should have punched it at the first yellow light. By the time the car actually moved I think the light would have been green.

Once again the SCT solves this. That and an Intake will be your best gains. After that you have to reduce weight (take all the junk out of the trunk, run with light fuel load etc.

If you want more after that it will be NOS or Supercharger (kit coming soon we hope).

Roll your windows up, most places won't let you run with them down. Turn off all accessories, you should only need parking lights on to run, some places don't even care about that. Cool the car down some. Practice, all the numbers will improve alot. Even with the bad 60's 03ups should break 10s pretty easily. If your using the SST it takes about 500rpm for the car to shift 1-2 after you commmand it. If you were reving past 6500rpm that would make for some weak times. The launch alone will improve your time alot judging by those numbers.

Yep I was reving way to high then. I did have all acc's off but I need to practice big time. When the car takes off, it takes off good but that hesitation from the time I floor it when the second yellow light comes on and the car actual moves killed me. I think I could have floored it on the first yellow light and then had a good takeoff when the light turned green.

I was practicing last night when shifting in SST mode. I think I am starting to get the hang of it. I was trying to power shift (keeping the car floored and shifting without letting off the gas, this might sound stupid but this is the first automatic car I have ever had and figured the SST would work like power shifting a manual car) but when I let off the throttle, bumped the stick and then got back into it, the car shifted so much quicker. I can't wait till I get a chance to run it again and see what kind of times I get.

Ahh, letting up on the gas explains the times also. Just keep it to the floor, its not going to hurt it, probably less likely to hurt it. Does the 03 start in 1st in the SST mode?, I know they started doing that somewhere along the line. My 02 will start in 2nd in SST mode, when you floor it it does drop to 1st, but its a very pathetic launch. I have to floor it in D5, right after take off I move the shifter over to SST and get ready for the 1-2. If it starts in 1st in SST, you won't have to screw with that. Anyways you will be in the 9s in no time.

You know flooring the car right away with the LS is not gunna help you at all right? I mean don't just smash it to the ground once the light turns green, its not gunna do you anything but push out to much gas.

I got a good SST trick, line lock the car so it drops into first and try to keep the tack up till the light hits green. Don't keep the tack up high just enough to keep it in 1st gear and the get off the brake. When I didnt have the baby most of the time I pulled this out with the very few races I got into at the light.
Some times I would coast to a light just right so it stays in 1st and then, wham! Take off but I gradually pushed on the pedal not just smashing it, its like a woman...you gotta hit that spot and once its right...then you lay it down the rest of the way..

Try it on a open back road no one uses a few times till you get it right, then you'll see what I am talking bout.

This is an old thread and you might have figured it out already, but turn the traction control off.

<--- Former track whore

I run the same track as Rebel I have a 01 v8 and I ran a 9.88 @ 73 at my fastest this was on less than a 1/4 of a tank of gas with no acc. on no lights or ac, and this was before or the same night I tore my tranny out! Now with my new tranny and dont make fun of me but with the tranny and my 12" GLASS PACKS (Missouri thing) My fastest was a 9.96 @ 72 think I could have been faster but I had over 1/2 gas and I always run with traction control off tried it once and it slowed me into the high 10's!!!! no tc for me..
