06 Ls to the dealer tomorrow

true but I was referring more towards the non maintance repair cost that we know its coming down the pipeline for him.

I'm really starting to think hard about getting a ESP from the dealer now that I know all this. What a let down, I just spent $800 at the dealership plus almost 400 2 weeks ago on powerstop performance rotors and brakes!! All just to find out that way more extensive work is right around the corner. I'm starting regret buying this car I mean this is ridiculous! I'm probly lookin at another 1500 bucks I have to put in it before I'm good to go for a while!?!?

I don't think you have extensive work around the corner? Plastic cooling parts fail eventually and they are on practically every vehicle. It could take years before you experience them failing.

Seafoam

My test. Purchased a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria station wagon from a church. They drove it 17 yrs for 5k miles per year. Car was in perfect condition, only needed a muffler. Drove it 26 miles to work street & freeway. The 302 was a dog, no power. Did the 3 tanks of regular gas with Seafaom each tank & the 302 came alive! Good test on a 99k mile vehicle! Now used as parts carrier!

you can get rid of the acceleration when coming to a stop by recalibrating your transmission's shift specs. its unsafe not to in my opinion. you will get used to it lurching, but you probably almost ran into something the first time it happened, no? not every LS does it. many LS's with improperly calibrated transmissions do it tho!

Calibrate shift specs? Not heard of this? can someone tell me more about this, or is someone pulling my chain?

Only jrand has this super-secret, double secret probation information.

Drive your car normally and the trans will "learn" line pressures and shift speeds.

I see. I see. should I be checking my muffler bearings at the same time?

Im taking my Ls to the lincoln dealership tomorrow morning. I'm getting the base service for 350.00 that includes new belt, fuel filter, cabin air filter, seat filter

A what? Can't fathom what a seat filter is. Except a methane filter.

Gen II has heated and cooled seats. They use thermoelectric modules (like those 12V plug-in ice boxes). Air is blown past the modules and through the seat cushions. This air is filtered for obvious reasons.

l king your chain is not being pulled. your car has 'learned' to lurch like that when stopping. and it can easily learn not to if you disconnect your battery, hold the positive and negative ends together for ~2mins then reconnect the battery, follow the new battery connection procedure in the owners manual, then follow a drive cycle procedure<search for it, i just linked it up like 2 days ago>, THEN drive the car normally. doing so will reset a whole ton of sensors in your car that factor into shift timings, which can get thrown off by new parts, worn parts, different octane rated fuel, etc

dont take tranny advice from someone who has wrecked what 3 tranny solenoids? probably from driving around without a well calibrated transmission. either that or his solenoids were probably fine and he just didnt know how to calibrate them properly. probably the latter.

Interesting. I guess I never thought of the mechanics behind it, I just assumed it was some kind of coil induction. Thanks for the explanation.
