What is shared? I'm pretty sure the tranny internals. How about exhaust? Anything else?

Is our exhaust the same as a Thunderbird? I heard one of those the other day and it sounded great. But then, maybe newer LSes sound that way, too...

You would think that there would be a lot shared, but I think the gas tanks and a few very minor parts are shared.

I know that we can all thank the Mustang aftermarket for the SCT (FINALLY).

Not much in common though. Even the Auto tranny is a bit different if memory serves.

I moderate the 2005 Mustang Forum on Stangnet. Come on over and take a look.

the FR500 mustang concept was based on the LS, but when it finally came into production - only parts of the floor pan are shared.

the two issues were:
- the LS platform is the single most expensive (other than the GT) for Ford and they could get the price down into the target range for Mustang.
- a convertible Mustang is a must, the DEW98 platform of the LS turned out to loose a lot of structural rigidity once the roof was removed. The Thunderbird (which is the convertible LS) required a lot of extra bracing and it still is not a very ridged auto.
