I understand the intake on the 03+ provide a big help in the HP department for the newer LS's.

With that said, what would be the ramifications of putting an 03+ intake on my 02 LS V8? What has to change besides the obvious (intake itself, tube, TB)

Every picture that I pull up with open hoods still have the plastic crap over them so I can't really tell if there is a major difference other than the location of the TB.

Anybody got an idea?

major diff in design. 03+ is front of engine drivers side...earlier models pass side rear of engine. also the 03+ MAF sensor is in the airbox itself right where the tube meets. i don't see how you'd get the 03+ intake to work on earlier model.

I realize the location is different. I am talking about the whole manifold, not just the tube. possibly finding a flood damaged or totaled 03-06 and bastardizing it for the entire upper intake.

The MAF is the key to this. The MAF sensor is different on the 03 and up LS's. You'll end up throwing a check engine light code. Not to mention trying to fab something up to "make it" work.

So why not keep the 02 MAF? I's still the same amount of air going through. I figured I'd have to fab a tube, thats no big deal if I dont have to weld 50 bungs in it for hoses and sensors. Any muffler shop that does big trucks can whip you up a simple tube to fit.

the big deal on 03+ is its drive by wire and your ls has no electronics to handle that. i think that would be a deal killer here

why? just get the aftermarket intake for the 00-02....

the intake was not a major reason for HP improvement - the shorter intake tube probably helps but the biggest gains came from the VVT, TBW, and improved exhaust.

Get the cold air tube and KKM, that's about all you can do short of FI or NOS.

It's not that hard for the transfer function of the MAF to be changed.

FI doesn't work real well with a 10.5:1 compression ratio. It can work, a few have done it, but in every thread that someone has actually accomplished it, it was a PITA, see Quik's supercharded thread.

NOS is illegal in the state of Ohio. You can have the system, but if you have even an ounce in the bottle, they can and will impound your car. Not exactly my idea of a good day.

It looks like the damn electronics has beaten me again. Oh well, I'll just have to make the stang a little faster and make the wife keep driving the LS. LOL
