03-06 HID and Halogen headlights on ebay

What is the diffrence in the housings??

They both look the same to me. The HID has the compartment to mount the ballast inside and it looks like the Halogen has the same thing too.

So , if you already have HID headlights can you use the Halogen housing and transfer the junk over ??

That is a very good question that I have never found the answer to. When doing my headlight retro, I ordered a pair of second generation headlight housings and upon close inspection, it has halogen and HID D2R on the back.. is it possible that they are the same housing with the same reflectors, but fitted with different bulb rings to correctly place the arc of light?

Have you done a direct AB comparison? I have not, so I cannot definitively say that they are different. In most other vehicles, the optics are different between the halogen and HID counterpart...and the LS is probably the same, but again, I am not 100% certain.
 
This has been done before.

The OEM HIDs have different reflector bowls

Why does this keep coming up?
The reflectors are different. I have two LSes, one with halogen and one with hid. It is 100% clear that the two have different reflectors.
 
Hey I didn't realize they were his. Cool. Only one starfox?

I dont know what they have but my hids have a cut off that the halogens didn't so something is different.
 
I'm tracking that non hid headlight but the one for sale by Starfox is the same headlight that I found about two weeks ago and posted a thread about. A guy was selling them for $65 a piece but I guess somebody bought the other one. This was just right after I purchased a set of 03 lights for $300. I was tempted to buy the HIDs to but I was like there's no need to be greedy.

okay cool! i guess it is the housings that are the same but just different reflector bowls inside of the housing for halogen and HID. Thanks for clearing that up!

Yeah I saw them too. I was temptem too since they were cheap but I already have an extra set. Didn't want to hog all the headlight up
