    Your problems sound like mine...vacuum leak was the root of it all ., wouldn't idle and the pcm dumped enough extra gas into the motor trying to even the mixture out that it was fouling the plugs and eventually stopped up the cat. Check the rubber adapter that comes out of the motor at the back...

I mounted it inside the original shroud ,similar to the OP, trimming all the mounting tabs and whatnot out of the shroud , made an adapter...

    I just left mine plugged in ; cut the hydraulic hoses loose and joined them in a circle with hose barbs. Now it runs along doing nothing and the 'car' doesn't know the difference

    i am in the midst of hydraulic to electric conversion and yes you can just loop the input and return hoses ; they have the same id . Just get a double hose barb and let it run in a loop. I'm getting adventurous since I am in no hurry to get this done. 108degree temps all weekend every weekend...

    I found this forum looking for answers to my overheating issues and have found a bunch of help , thanks to all. I don't know why so many are concerned about controlling fan speed on an electric conversion tho , just run it full blast . Not like its going to overcool the motor or anything

    I inherited an ls with a bad hyd fan and I can tell you these cars overheat faster than anything I have ever seen , 30-60 seconds after I slow under 45 mph this thing pegs the temp gauge and boils over. I suspect too small coolant capacity and hardly any grill opening for airflow
