    Leaking Chrome Rim Repair

I've slowed my leak in a tire that kept losing air around the rim. Was losing a pound a day. My tires are the original at 70K on my 04 Town car. I found the area when it was leaking, and positioned the car where the valve was above it. I took out the valve stem and slowly put in silicone...

    Ticking/knocking under heavy acceleration

I had the same problem with my 04 Town Car. I thought it was a lifter. My mechanic is a 12 year Ford mechanic with his own garage. He looked at the engine, put a stethescope on it and found it was one of the fuel injectors. Told me to put a quart of Mystery oil in with my next change and it...

Town Car wheel well chrome adder.

I solved my problem with rust, so it wouldn't hurt to check yours before it rusts! Seems that they did undercoat the wheel wells, but they missed a section on one. When I put a mirror on the inside of the upper part of the wheel well the area facing into the car missed being undercoated and I...

Picked up a nice little gem

My 04 rusted under that wheel well chrome adder, and it hardly ever sees water or dampness. I spent years looking for that style TC, and every clean one I found had cracked leather unholstery, so you sure got lucky on yours. As for any other rust, when my TC is on a lift I get under it and hit...

Town Car wheel well chrome adder.

I've had the wheel well chrome for six years. I don't drive in the winter, and rarely drive when it rains, so it's in the garage in bad weather. I wash it twice a year. Some low life stole the right rear chrome in a parking lot a few days ago. And the worst part is there is rust foming under...

    Chrome Door Pillars FTW!!!

The only problem those OEM chrome door pillars cause on my 04 Limited is smeared fingerprints only on my wife's side of the car!

    lexol

After 7 years of using several brands of leather conditioner I've finally wised up and tried Lexol! The Lexol soaks into the leather, conditions it, and slowly seems to stretch the leather which is starting to diminish the cracks. It also makes the leather much softer to the touch. Wish I...

    Chrome Door Pillars FTW!!!

My 04 came with them. A word of warning - Do not ever use chrome polish on them, or your OEM chrome wheels if you have them. They are top coated with a thin layer of clear plastic to protect them, and that coating will scratch easily if you're not careful.

    Oil Change Question

I've used nothing but Fram filters and Valvoline products for 43 years with no problems, no loss of compression, no adding oil. I change between 4000 and 5000 on regular oil, 6 to 7 thousand on synthetic as soon as I can't see the hatched area on dip stick. I change my own, as in the past the...

87 TC stall ans spit on accerlation

Check the Throttle positioning sensor (TPS) yet? Simple to replace, takes less than a minute. The opposite problem to yours that also indicates the TPS is going, is increaded idle that's noticed at stop lights when the vehicle needs a foot on the brake.

    just got a 2001 TC

Lots 'a miles A few months ago I spoke with the mechanic for a local limo outfit that runs 20 Town cars. He says that that they need little maint. as all the miles are highway miles to and from the airports. They do not change the transmission fluid and have only had one transmission failure...

    Nitrogen filled tires???

Tires Only worth it if you have chrome rims. The moisture in the air will rust those rims from the inside. Most gas stations don't even have a moisture trap. Try blowing some of THAT air on your hand on a humid day and you'll understand better than words I write.

97 TC with 187K, shold I be concerned?

Most beautiful TC made. Last year for this style so the factory had ironed out any problems. that said, if the car was maintained properly, oil changes and transmission fluid changes it wouldn't have needed a new tranny. I'd take it to my mechanic and get it up on the lift and look it over...
