Age and Year of Your Continental

I'm 51. I was 49 when I bought my baby, a '93 Conti Signature which was purchased new by my sister-inn-law. I loved it the first time I ever saw it. All power. Factory CD. Moon roof. Leather. The only thing I've done to her is a set of Strutmasters (tightens ride but handling is great!)...

    1993 lincoln dashboard cluster

instrument cluster Had the same problem. It is usually caused by oxidation on the contacts where the wiring harness plugs iinto the instrument cluster. If it beeps continually and shows low oil pressure, reset the gauge to see your water temp if you are concerned that the block is...

    Continental Air Ride Unlevel

If you MUST have the air suspension, contact Strutmasters. My mechanic was impressed with their support system. Their air components are much more of a heavy-duty nature than the factory set-up.

    Continental Air Ride Unlevel

I just replaced the air system on my 93 Conti with a Strutmasters coil system. The ride is firmer, but the handling and cornering is improved. Unless one prefers the plush air ride, and money is no object, the coil system is the way to go. I wish I had done it sooner.

    If lincoln

When I was a teen back in the early 70's, I wanted a early 60's Conti...loved that body style! My local mechanic told me "son, the more sh*t you've got on a car, the more you've got to tear up." I understood what he meant when I bought a '69 Riviera to restore. Sold it when smoke started...

    cleaning leather??

My leather wheel on my 93 Conti was NASTY when I bought it. I used Armor All leather cleaner (brown bottle) and it worked really well. Buff it with a soft cloth and it has a nice glow.

Going to get tinted windows tomorrow...

In some states there are regulations (and hefty fines) as to how dark you can tint your windows. Here in North Carolina they are strictly enforced. Law enforcement agents do not appreciate suspects who are able to hide behind dark tinted glass and aim a firearm at their person.

    '93 Continental oil pressure guage

My 93 Conti does the same thing, usually after a big change in the weather...(rainy cool day & hot the next). I push the button to change gauges and it usually takes care of it after a couple of pops. I'm too lazy to pull the trim and clean the wiring contacts. As long as my water temp AND...

    K&N filter

Stir up some molasses with some butter and "sop" 'em or poke a hole in 'em and pour in the molasses. Goooooood! Also, try some pear preserves when they come straight out of the oven, or bake 'em with a touch of cheese!

AC blows hot in my 94

If you do everthing listed above and it still blows hot, your evaporator coil (usually at the firewall) is probably shot. If its leaking you usually won't be able to see the dye because of the box its enclosed in. I had the same problem with my '97 Cherokee. It was'nt pretty because I had to...

    K&N filter

I just re-read the thread...back to the original question. My old 580 Case backhoe ('70 model) had an oilbath-type filter and it was a royal pain to service. The later models (580B,C,D,E,K,L) as well other related equipment went to paper filters simply because the technology/manufacturing...

    K&N filter

I think the plumbing analogy made the most sense of all. If you've ever used a ball valve to shut off a water supply under pressure (as opposed to a "gate" valve), one can hear the turbulence in the pipe, regardless of flow diameter. Now, if someone could help me get more "oomph" out of the...

    Why a continental?

I've only been a member for a short time, but Barry, you're full of B.S. Yes, the '56/'57 Continental was made by Continental Division. It was an awesome car in its day...still is! However, it has the 368 Lincoln engine (pulled from the line and balanced, though) and the same transmission as...
