Dealer estimated cost to repair at $907. A bit steep for me. Another mechanic wanted to Perform "exploratory surgery" as he wasn't sure what it was. Estimated $700 in labor alone.

Yes, 2002 LS V6. Did research the forum and it sounds more like the PVC then O2 sensors. Is this repair possible without putting the car on a lift? And to answer my original question, it sounds OK to drive 900 miles next week as the car isn't stalling etc. And to do repair after trip...

Check Engine codes P0171 P0174 Advance Auto checked Check engine light. Codes are P0171 and P0174. The AA person said these were pre-catalytic converter and post catalytic converter oxygen sensors (2 each, total four). About $45 each.

Took 2002 LS to service re check engine light. They recommeded replacing intake gasket, IMT O-rings, 2 vaccuum hoses, PCV valve, PCV hose and throttle body. Check engine light is on solid, not flashing. When I disconnect the battery, check engine light goes off but comes on 2 or three starts...

Had replaced the LF wheel sensor (which is actually a short wire with two connectors) problems was still there. Replaced RF with old LF, viola! All fixed. A bunch of black soot like stuff, somewhat magnitized on replaced sensor. Any thoughts where this came from?

Frogman was right Just wanted to circle back. Frogman was correct it was the right front wheel speed sensor that was causing the ABS issue.

I know they're different part numbers, but would a LF wheel speed sensor work on the right front?

Any suggestions on where to get a replacment tail light cover for 2002 Lincoln LS? There's a crack in the inside of mine and every time it rains a tail light goes out. I looked on line - expensive!

Thanks frogman. I have had the ABS kick in and do know the difference. You may be correct about having the ABS codes looked at. I'll do that. I did check the forums and read the owners manual. Thanks for typing your thoughts.
