Are 3.9 V8 main bolts stretch bolts?

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm going to order the Jaguar bolts and see what I get. I will post the results, as this is one of the things we all need to know for replacing the main bearings!

Are 3.9 V8 main bolts stretch bolts?

So I got back with ARP on studs and they said that they made a mistake and that the M10 studs are a stock item for another engine and they are only 10 dollars each. That drops the price substantially, but the M8's are still 80 dollars each! Is that diagram from the Jaguar engine?

Are 3.9 V8 main bolts stretch bolts?

Does anyone know for sure if the crankshaft main bolts for the 3.9 V8 are/are not stretch bolts? They are the M10 and M8 bolts. I got a quote from ARP for over $1800 to have main studs made :(. The only reason I was going that way was I assumed they were stretch bolts...at that price I want to...

So far: 4.0L Jaguar S-Type bearings = 3.9L Lincoln LS bearings

So when you order the new Jaguar bearings, what color are you going to order? As near as I can figure the "green" bearings are the factory standard size with blue being the first oversize. I figured if I get the blue bearings and have the crank polished to match the bearings I should be perfect.

CD stuck while trying to eject

I had the same issue with my 2002 LS Sport. It gets hung up on something inside. Take out your drivers license, or credit card and slide it under (might be above) the CD and pry it down (or up) a little while your are trying to eject it. You are trying to mimic the old 1970's credit card to open...

Has anyone rebuilt the bottom end of their V8?

Well, I appreciate the comments everyone. It has been a while since I have looked here...got a new job! Anyways, as luck has it I am now a Quality Engineer at Kurt Manufacturing (the machinist vise company) and we have a huge library of ultra-precise measuring equipment! The plan is to measure...

    Aftermarket crankshaft balancer bolt?

Thank oddball, that's all I needed...an accomplice! In all seriousness, I also can see the reason for the TTY head studs, but screwing a steel hub to a steel crank sounds pretty safe to at least test it out with the old bolt. When the problem is solved (trying the power of positive thinking...

    Aftermarket crankshaft balancer bolt?

I was aware that it was a stretch bolt, and that is the issue in a nut shell. Getting a bolt to fit would be child's play, but getting it to stretch correctly is why I am looking for the correct one. Here's a question, do you think it would be of any value to use the old bolt just to see if the...

    Aftermarket crankshaft balancer bolt?

It is a 2002 V8 sport. I had an issue with a knocking noise that sounded like a rod and I took off the belt and started it just to eliminate anything connected with that...the sound was much less muted. I had purchased another used engine that was supposed to have run when it was pulled and...

    Aftermarket crankshaft balancer bolt?

Hello everyone, I am wondering if there is anybody out there who knows of an aftermarket crankshaft pulley bolt source. I see you can purchase them from fordparts.com, but they are $32 each . If I have to buy it so be it but I have three problems with this. First, I work at a large...

Has anyone rebuilt the bottom end of their V8?

Thanks for the info gentlemen. Ken, I am beginning to read the Land Speed LS...great so far! I agree with you on one thing in particular. When I started breaking down the engine in my garage it was great seeing all of the Hot-rod things that were inside! Windage tray, main girdles, DOHC...

Has anyone rebuilt the bottom end of their V8?

Hello all, I purchased an engine to rebuild and am currently in the midst of tearing it down. I have the factory manuals and they all the sudden stop when you get to tearing into the engine block. After you get the engine stripped down to the short block the manual goes into putting it back...

LS engine rebuild list and info needed.

Got the books today and they are in great shape...you could pretty much rebuild the entire car with these things...it's gonna be a good summer!!!

LS engine rebuild list and info needed.

I would much rather have the books. I can put them on the fender of the car and not worry about them falling and shattering. Searching through a book is easier, faster, and less distracting than searching a disk. When I find what I want I don't have to print three copies (inevitably it prints in...

LS engine rebuild list and info needed.

My plan was to buy a used engine but I cannot find one in my area...I did purchase the manuals from EBAY (Thanks for the link!!!). I am assuming that they will help a great deal...at that point (being a little anal) I will be able to make a list (OK maybe a lot!). I think if I do have a bad...
