We worked it out for $380. Fair enough for me At this moment, but still a kick to the nuts kinda Day when you throw $120 for the tow in but again Fair IMO. They both did their jobs to perfection and On very short notice.

$300 to just do the swap sound about right to you or should I beat them up a little over it?

shop just called, they swear its the alternator. Claims to have placed it on a machine that told him its def bad. $660 to replace. :eek:

Same here. Every car I've owned. Its the simple sheit that you dont know about your car that you learn. Like holding the key in the door lock to roll every window down and open the sunroof... Would have never figured that one out if I didn't read the owners manual. :cool:

Maybe look for someone with a sand blaster? Just a thought but I think you will do just as well with a wire brush and some effort. Prime and be done with it.

My guess would be your secondary timing tensioner. The oil pressure takes a second to pull it tight when cold. Also to the OP it could be the same for you. But I dont know about the V-6. My V-8 threw an o2/cat code when my secondary was shot and then it jumped time one tooth and...

While in a drive thru last night I heard what sounded like the fuel pump whinning a little so I put the car in neutral and it stopped. Put it back in Drive there it was again. Put the car in 3rd no whine. Same for 1st and second... But regular "D" and it sounds like a selonoid maybe...
