Getting Ready to Re-do My Exhaust, Opinions?

Yeah, the normal bassani's are polished. Mlara got the bx series, same mufflers lower grade steel. You pay like 160-180 a piece for the regular polished ones though.

Yeah if i got them i think i would go ahead and get polished.

Wow i didn't know that...oh well saved a lot of $$$ on parts you wont really see anyway :D

but actually i think i have the regular ones part # 4820. I think the polished ones are the BX series?

You could still sell them to someone else.

409 Stainless construction

Our precision engineered mufflers feature durable STAINLESS STEEL internal construction housed in either a T-304 stainless steel case or a BX Performance 409 Stainless Steel case

The reg mufler is 4820 and costs 160. The bx mufflers is part number 4820, also as bx4820, and it costs 115. Its the same part number but its either bx or not. The muffler they have on sale now is bx series 4820 reduced to 85 bucks. You dont need the 304 stainless steel unless you live where they salt snow and such, your mufflers will be better protected.

You can also just paint your mufflers with high heat engine enamel or some other protective coating before installation.

seems like you're into stangs a lot. Did you consider them when buying your LS? Weren't cobras at about the same price range your 06 was?

Aight, dude...I'll be there Friday getting the 550 done. I'll bring that surround for ya as well. See ya then. :Beer

For sure. I should probably be there by 9 or so. I'll be in no hurry, so he can do yours first as I gotta go North from there later on in the day.

And you were right, he stopped doing Saturdays. Must be nice! lol

sweet. how long does something like this take?

when i did my magnaflows i had to drop off my car a whole day to get done lol

Ha.

Bet they were joyriding in your car. Takes nowhere near all day...more like a hour or two.

No. I was not about to pay $20K for a manual car from 2003 to daily drive. And i hate the interiors. I really wanted a marauder. Almost bought a charger R/T but it sold when i went to go look at it. Also looked at the STS V8.

Not long at all. Coupla hours max. The LS is a pretty easy and straight forward exhaust to do. KC and NickT re-did mine a few times. lol

That first Cobra sounds like it's blowing bubbles? Or else something else flapping around? IDK, to each his own. probably better in person

Thats what an engine exhaust is supposed to sound like. :shifty: Well an american V8 anyways.

funny how bassani mufflers on an LS sound nothing like any other application with Bassanis...or is it just me?

Its not just you.

All mufflers are quiet on the LS....it just doesnt have that deep american V8 sound. The engines were built here but theyre still a jaguar design. Even the larger jaguar engines arent very loud.

i feel like magnaflows have a specific tone that can almost be recognized in any application it is used in. I had them on my MKIV jetta and on my LS and i don't know what it is but there was a resemblance. When i hear cars drive by with modified exhaust i can almost tell everytime when they have magnaflows. Not with bassanis tho lol

anyway, heres an opportunity for someone to try out the bassani race mufflers:

I'm sure these can be modified to fit the LS, no?
