I like playing with tire sizes, and apparently this is frowned apon by the car.

Can this feature be disabled entirely?

I feel like you could probably cut a certain wire or wire in a toggle switch somewhere to where you wouldn't have to turn your factory T/A switch off every time you get in the car, but I wouldn't know. My 93 didn't have Traction Assist, and I kind of liked it that way. One less thing to have to turn off when it was time to race. The only thing is I believe your traction assist works with your ABS, so you might have to be careful what you do and what wires you cut so you don't mess something up with that. You might find some answers if you do a search, or, since you've already asked the question, maybe someone can help you.

The search function on this site isn't very useful at all. I found many threads which mention either Traction or Control, a few that mentioned both, and none that said anything about disabling it permanently.

You are correct about its relation to the ABS and that's my concern with just ripping things out. I'm doubting that it's going to be as simple as pulling a fuse... but I'm hopefull. lol Fords software/firmware tends to be rooted deeply.

Supposedly the car did have a tune. I did manage to find a thread from the previous owner recounting the same issue: http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=79605&highlight=traction+control

No resolution outside of matched tires, but he wanted to keep the TC for use on the street... so it's still there. The case for an SCT toy gets stronger every day.

Bad info. when I purchased a tune for my 97 I was told that traction control can't be disabled on these cars.

**[EDIT]** or do you have a first gen, that might make a difference(sorry I just crawled out of bed, not really thinking right) I don't know if that would allow you to change it in a tune, but there seems to be reasonable more ways of disabling them**[/EDIT]**

CAn it be disable din other ways besides turning it off at the message center?

There's got to be a way, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm not that motivated to do it, it's just not that hard to turn off.

Looks like a jumper or switch between pins 21 and 4 of the message center connectors might do it.

WARNING: I haven't tried this. If you do and if you blow something up, it's not my fault!

I had a flat on the left rear a month or so ago and when I tried to drive it after putting the donut on the T/C had a sh!t fit! I was a little mad and frustrated so it took me a couple of miles before it hit me like a ton o' bricks that I just had to turn the fuggin traction control off:rolleyes: But wow, I couldn't get it to go more than 10mph with the T/C on and that stupid donut on there:D But yeah, it's not that hard just to turn it off.

Go crazy and pull off the abs/tc relay behind the front left corner light if you like to drive without any assists from the car. You will have to deal with the abs and tc lights. Have fun! No legal advice offered.

Yea, I wasn't trying to yell at you about using the search (I just saw the other thread where that happened). I just didn't have a good answer for you and thought you might be able to find something, but I know how the search is on here and how frustrating it can get sometimes. For some reason, I was also thinking your car was a gen-I where you just have the switch to turn off, instead of it being in with your message center, so that might make it a little more complicated than the gen-I.
