Is there such a thing as a "beef'd up" alternator that can handle more amps??? I installed an electric fan that runs continuously and seems to drain the battery. Will the v8 alternator fit and does it hold more amps? HELP!!!!

If no one can even trust the autozone/advanced whatever stores alt's why would ebay even be a better choice??? I beg to differ. My REMAN Motorcraft has been going strong for the past 6 months, and its still the best option for our cars. You can buy a higher output ALT for the LS on ebay, Buy quality, do not buy a reman Alt., buy new always.

Hmm....makes me want to have the db I own rewound locally before installing.
Someone needs to make a dual alt kit lol.
I dont know what the deal is with these alternators. They just dont seem to put out enuf juice at idle. I bought a used alt at a local salvage yard for $37 for a temp fix and to verify it was the new alternator causing the lights to dim at idle. The used alt worked fine with no dimming issues. I'm considering buying a underdrive pulley from DB Electrical when I send the HO alt back and putting it on the used alt I bought to see if it gives me a few more amps. I'd be happy with 130-150. That should be enuf for my electric cooling fan. I dont have any amplifiers in the trunk so I dont need a huge gain, just a little.
If you want a good alternator get an HO 6G 200 amp from QuickStart. You can get one with a dual bridge remote rectifier, etc, etc for $429. I tried the HO alternators from this company, and they will take a beating. Do it right the first time and you won't be banging your head against the wall every time one of those "so called" HO alts crap out over and over.

I may give that one a try. I tell you what...Im so tired of taking these alternators out and putting another one in only to get the same result.
I dont think those will fit. Theyre large case and ours is a small case?? Dont know if you could make a gen II alt work....it cranks out more amps.

Update, the DB Electrical alternator is junk as well. It doesnt generate enuf power at idle and light go dim. Go with OEM alt. Just my 2 pennies
No kidding?Sagged down to, oh, 11.5V or so below 1000 RPM?
I have used their alternators for all of my MKIII supras I have owned, and also on my wife's CRV. Trust me, these things are bulletproof. Just give them a call and they will be able to help you out if you are unsure of fitment. They have great customer service and know what they are doing.
It seems that maybe the LS PCM communicates differently with the alternator than most other Ford PCMs do. This will cause problems if they aren't aware of it.
