I just acquired another gen 2 black on tan today. The sunroof is stuck open in the vent position. It is a factory sunroof. Anyway to get this to close?

you should be able to manually operate the the gears by removing the motor and using a flat blade screwdriver. It's been a while since I worked on a moon roof but from the best of my memory thats how to do it.

The motor still works. It looks off track or something. I really don't know. Is it hard to swap out?

Dude, did you pick this up after we talked? Mark VIII hoarder! :)

Pull the motor out as suggested. It gives free back and forth motion of the glass. If it's off track once the motor is out you should be able to get it back on track and/or find why it came off.

Or the gear could strip and youd hear the working but the glass wouldn't move.

I swapped the moon roof once with another member here on my cordovan. They are 3x's easier than you would ever expect. Even easier if you get a buddy to help. There are only 6 screws that hold the assembly together. It's scary how easy they are to swap!

Thanks, that's good to know.
