Anyone ever used the 50-watt version of these in a quad HID conversion? Or have pics of them in an LS housing?

A little concerned that the 8-amps each ballast uses to start will chew up the alternator. A sudden 32-amp load from 4 ballasts isn't necessarily trivial. Plus the heat in the housing. Guess I could just do one projector and put a color-matching LED bulb in the high-beam housing so it matches and lights up when the high beams are on. Thinking of doing 6K 50-watt HID which should give me a pretty pure/diamond white look. Put a shroud around it with an angel eye outside of that.

you also get to subtract the amp draw of the stock halogen bulbs that are no longer there.
so the increase (stock mark 8 halogen bulbs are rated at 60w, my HIDs are rated at 35w) will be minimal, or maybe even decrease.

Yeah, I'm probably just going to do a single projector in each housing. The high-beam bucket has no real mechanism for aiming and I would have to have one ballast external to the housing. I should be able to mount these ballasts where the stock HID ballast would go on the bottom of the housing. I bought a new passengers side housing to match the drivers side so I can use the old one as a test mule.

Quad projectors, that would be a first for the ls. Projectors in the gen2 housing look a little off probably because the low beam bowl is so big.

I had an idea to make the smaller hi beam bowl the location for the low beam projector and just use the low beam bowl as the Hi beam. This would give the projector and more proportional bowl to be fitted in to. Then of cource do angel eyes on them to top them off.I never started the project but I will someday.

Let us know what you intend to do. I was also looking into those morimoto projectors a while back

The only place a projector wouldn't look stupid in an LS is in the gen2 hi beam house or the gen2 LSE/06 fogs.

I think if you did some work on the reflector bowls maybe even paint them black it may look a little more factory.

I'm not super familiar with how bi-xenon works but you should be able to paint the bowl because the light emits forward correct? No need for it to be reflective.

The shield just drop when you flick the hi-beams on to give you the full beam of light with no cut off, hence the BI in bi-xenon or double function.
