Title says it all, are the fenders the same? From what I can tell the metal is. It looks like the trim pieces are different. Most notably the "bullet" piece that extends from the center of the drivers door has a square notch in it where as the gen2 doesn't. It also looks like pinstripes were popular?

Anything noteworthy related to fitment or body lines though?

What part exactly are you referring to? The ones I used have no pinstripes.

I just replaced my Gen II fenders (2003) to Gen I fenders (2000). They fit right on with no problems. My 03's didn't have the "LS" on the fenders but the 00's did. I like the look of the "LS" on the fender now that I have them lol.

Once I get everything else finished on my car, I'm going to make a thread showing what I did. I could finish in a day or two giving the weather. For the last two days it's been raining.

The GenI's had a square place to park a chrome "LS" emblem on the trim piece of the fender. It extends from the trim piece present on the center of the door. The Gen2's did not have this, just a rounded piece.

I'm just wondering because the body shop fixing my fender bender has a Gen1 fender and it has pinstripes and the different trim. At least that is what sticks out.

The ones I put on have the "LS". If I were to remove the "LS" then there would be a squarish look to the molding, but with the "LS" on it you can't tell. If you still have the molding from the fender they are replacing you can take the molding off and put it on your "new" fender.

I would tell the shop to either replace both fenders with gen 1 (with LS emblems) or keep it with a gen 2 fender.

damn shops trying to cut corners.

If insurance is paying for it, tell them you want your fenders to match and the one they have doesn't match cause of the molding. All the lines of the fenders are the same. They could just swap the moldings and you wouldn't be able to tell. Then you'd have the pinstripe to worry about.

I am, I just wanted to know if the fenders themselves were different beyond the trim. It will be interesting when I go there to see if they took the pin stripes off before paint and if they swapped that trim piece. I made it clear in no uncertain terms that I didn't want to be able to tell there was even repair work done. In their defense, they at least got another silver metallic fender.

As far as me removing, transferring, or doing any work, that aint happening. No point in hiring a professional to do a job if you are just going to finish it for them. If it's not right when I go to pick it up I will just refuse to pay for it until they fix it.

That damn license plate bracket is still bolted onto the bumper too. That f'er better come off there in the next update too.

I agree with them doing the work. And when I said "you could" I meant in having them do it lol. I think the moldings have rivets holding them in so I would make sure they swap them out. Keep updating.

The LS name plate moldings are held on by tape, no rivets. I just pulled my moldings off without the LS, and put others on that had LS. Used new double sided tape that I got from a body shop.

Got the car back from the body shop. The good news is they did a great job on the fender and paint. I honestly can not tell it ever happened or that the car ever had a front license plate bracket. The bad news is the "brand new from ford sealed headlight" has water spots/stains INSIDE the lens. Either Ford recovered it from a flooded warehouse, or they got sloppy with it. They have another one on order to replace it. Ohh, they also can't aim the headlights to save their life. Guess I will just make the dealer do it for free.

Here's what it looks like now. Sig pic to be updated soon.

And the water spots:

Glad to hear you didn't have any bodyshop trouble! Looks sooooo good without a front plate.

Looks great. Weird that a new light had those spots *cough shocker they probably didn't order new*.

Those wheels look awesome on your silver.

Yeah, but they charged the insurance company $661 for a new light. I'm more then happy to call them and let them know they got ripped off. I am sure they would love to send them more business. In their defense, the light does look new. No oxidation on the plastic, the lens still has the UV coating, no scratches at all, no signs of lends repair. My guess is either something happened to it at Ford, or one of their lackeys got wet sanded primer dust in there somehow. They did use a white primer coat on the car. Either way, it shouldn't have left like that. My fault for not checking it, but it is harder to see without the lights on.

They supposedly ordered a new one last Wednesday. So I will call them in the morning and ask where it's at, or I start calling my insurance company. If it wasn't for the fact I
