I just bought the complete DOHC engine from a 98 LSC, including harness/ecm.

I have never fiddled with the lincoln vehicle.. we will be pulling the engine this weekend, and I want to make sure I do this right..

we will probably use the drop it out from below method, (not my car, so I don't know what the owner will do)..

where is the ecm? heard under the dash...

any guidance welcomed..

(the engine is going into a 1956 ford truck)

Left side of the dash. Drop the panel below the steering colum and it'll be on the left side.

Good thing they have an umbilical setup. For the main harness, its just one large connector by the brake booster. I think its an 8mm bolt. Once the bolt is backed out most of the way, that connector comes apart and you have 99% of the wiring done. With the engine out, it should be easier to get the fixed harness out between the engine and into the firewall to the ECU.

fabulous!!.. thanks for that.. I hadn't considered that there would be a two part connector thru the firewall..

+1 Am sure glad that that's pretty much all you have to remove to drop the engine, dealing with wires that is.

you couldnt ask for an easier removal, its very sweet that the engine harness is all one plug. removing the motor will be a cake walk for you.

Thanks for all the help guys!.. She is out.. the owner didn't want to do the bottom out method so we had a few extra struggles.. that drivers side exhaust manifold/steering linkage battle is amazing.. we had to unbolt the cross member anyhow..

I got the harness thru to the computer, and computer..

as I wasn't taking the tranny, I didn't take the tranny harness, as I have a 4r70W from a late model F150 to use.. where did the tranny harness plug in?
one of those connectors I unplugged at the firewall near the engine plug?

I was never under the car, so didn't follow the harness around..

Believe it's connected under the car in a connection right beside it. Near the end of the tail housing.
