what is going on???

ok, on the new 95 mark Viii that i got. i get the door ajar message. i get in the car, turn the car on, close the door. and the interior lights go off but the message stays up. i have replaced both the sensors drivers and passenger. and that didn't do it. so what is going on...

yes, i searched around. found the wd-40 trick (didnt work) and the plywood trick (piece of plywood on top of the sensor) i remember about a week ago i think it was Chris saying he fixed his. but cant find the post.


also on anther note, i have never worked with ABS before. and my abs light is on. i put a new relay in didnt solve it. so should my next step be to hook it up to a scanner?

As for the ABS issue, yes, pull the codes. Most likely a wheel speed sensor.

thats what i was betting on it being, the car sat outside for 5 years... well good thing my autoshop class has the tools to read the ABS.

ABS Data Link Connector (C170) viewed from pin face:

L = Warning lamp to dash

G = Ground

T = Trigger

To pull codes, use a paperclip to jumper the ground and trigger pins together.
Turn ignition key to RUN without starting engine.
Count ABS light flashes to get two-digit code. Each code takes about 15 seconds if there are multiple codes.

on the door thing, there is a small sensor thingy in the door (not the sensor in the door hinge area you can see). that's what gets stuck. spraying wd40 into the latch and slamming the door usually frees it up. if thats no good, pull the door panel and spray the wd40 in there, there is a plunger thingy.

Does it come on when you hit about 20 mph after a start up? If so, it's a speed sensor most likely.

Uhhhhh.... what. Older GM vehicles used this method, but it was called a "code key" and you just stuck it in, and it looked just like a key, but the end was barbed, so to speak. Same idea I guess, I just rather use an OBD tool

mine does that. but not every time. and when it doesn't light up, the abs works fine. weird.

My 94 done it from day one when I bought it. I never knew what I was missing but drove it 5 years like that and never hurt anything. I was used to the orange light at 20 mph. I did clean all 4 of them but one was just bad but I didn't let it bother me. The 95 has never done it, not yet anyway.
