Need help wiring gen 2 headlights on gen 1 ls

Here's an old pic of them on the car. If you don't have these brackets, what mounts the top of the Gen 1 headlight on your car?

brackets-1.jpg

NOthing, It's held in by the bottom 2 bolts. I never knew there was a top tab, now I'll have to make something, because it's going to bother me....

Ok so my new 6 pin wiring harnesses showed up today and my header panel should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get these sexy new headlights put in! But I decided to go ahead and have my body guy repaint the hood since my brand new '06 LSE bumper and grille make the factory paint look like poo.

Here is a pic of what that gen 2 bracket looks like. I guess that's one of the perks of buying a brand new pair is that they come with them. lol

Sounds like you're moving along quite nicely. Just some FYI. The 2 metal "L" brackets holding the header panel in the middle of the bumper unbolt from the header panel and the front bumper support, so you can slider the header panel right out. You can see them in HDDave's picture. they're diagonal from the circles he drew.

Finally!!! Just got the car put together and fresh paint on the hood and mirrors. This thing is finally coming together.

BTW HDDave, that wiring harness DID get in my way when trying to install the passenger side headlight. I just removed the mounting bolt and plastic case to move the harness over to the right, behind the headlight. Thanks again for all the pics and help with the install guys! The car is getting closer to what I want it to look like, piece by piece.

I'm going to just post pics of the process.

Here is a pic of it I took real quick at the body shop. Don't pay attention to how dirty the fenders and the rest of the car is...The final product! Totally worth it.

lol

Did you feel like it was a brand new car when you got it all back together? I had a new found love for mine after the gen2 lights were on.

Oh yea! This thing is getting sexy now! I love it! I immediately took it to the car wash and gave it a bath. The Gen 2 front end makes it a whole new car! Lots of $$$ later LOL!

Ok good - I'm glad I'm not the only that ran into this considering how many people have done this swap!

Looks like you found the same trailer harness I used ;)

anyone know where to get the best deals ?

You can find the headlights cheaper on here or ebay. I used google to find most of my prices. If it makes you feel any better it took me around 2 years to complete my conversion. I kinda cheated tho, since someone elses insurance, cut me off and shattered the bumper, paid for the new bumper, fog lights, and grille.

yea Im hoping by this time next year I will be done.

was gona do inside out 1st, do system but think im gonna start buying the bumper and stuff 1st.
