Does Cobra intake count? Poll

It's a stock bolt on to me as your not swapping Cams or opening the engine for Forged internals like a Cobra engine would have.

If I could find one cheap enough it would be on my 98' yesterday

What like this.

All I need are set of IMRC's. It took alittle while to get ALL the parts. Got just intake for $175 and went from there.

Yes that would be considered a mod on a Mark 4.6 as it is a modification of what your car came with from the factory. Obviously you wouldn't list that if your car was a 96-98 Cobra but anything that isn't stock on your vehicle would be considered a mod no matter how small it is. I have a 96 Cobra so obviously I wouldn't list that but say I swapped in some C heads and a 99-01 intake onto my car, it would be considered a mod for my car even though it is oem equipment on the newer Cobras. Anything that's an upgrade over what your car came with from the factory is considered a mod regardless of if it's a newer oem part or not. Hell, even if you were to do a minor p&p job on your stock intake it would technically count as well.

Yep we know its a mod. What we are trying to poll is should this be counted as a "bolt-on" mod. Just off of head rules are gears, posi, converter, jmod, headers, exh, elect WP,CAI,tires stuff like that.

anything that requires more than 10 bolts to be removed puts it into "not stock" or "modded"

Usually, it is competition that drives rules, particularly on more common car models or racing venues. If you look what the rules are for NHRA or such, it can be mind boggling in some classes. But the intent is to 'level out the field' and promote parity for more exciting racing action, and in some cases safety. There is hardly a modification that goes in any class without strict rules as to it's use.

Likewise, rules can change to reflect the competition and allow what once was not allowed. A couple examples some may be familiar with are the SuperCoupe ShootOut and SSHS events. The rules have been modified over time to either include or exclude as seen fit in the best interest of the original intent of the venue.

I want to see your results at the track after you install it that will help me decide whether I use mine or not.
