My Turbo Ls

yea i kno the ls1 is would have been nice but im planning on boreing internals and lowering compression and geting more power on a original motor the ls v6 are pretty strong trust me .....lol

Welcome!

Nice work, build it yourself? 10k! wow, that's a lot of cash, but dropping money into the is addicting, trying to turn it into a beast. When are you getting a tune for it? Dyno it yet?

No offense, but it look like your ls got it's 2 front teeth knocked out with that grille.

well im getting tuned from sct try to get money for that now and yea my grill is staying like that till i get my hands on the mclaren grill

how did you route the exhaust pipe from the manifold to the snail?

i have a 2002 automatic v6, im not planning to add a big turbo or run my car on the tracks, its just for a normal daily use and occasional street races.

this kits seems pretty complete for a small appropriate turbo (wich i am looking for)

if i add a turbo, what problems should i expect? will it loose something like a/c or anything like that? do i have to upgrade someother stuff like injectors or radiator or something like that? like i said i dont want to change a lot of things since i dont plan to run it a lot just daily driving. please tell us your experience and help me out would u

Fuel pump, injectors will need to be upgraded. You wont loose ac.

Exhaust really is important when turboing a normally N/A engine. Exhaust temperatures can kill a turbo quicker than dry seals. I'd really recommend a 3" exhaust at least even running a dual exhaust set up.

No returns on that kit. Sounds like a customer service issue waiting to happen.

The kit isn't that great anyways. A real custom turbo setup costs several thousand not less than 500 bucks.

First hand witness of Ebay turbo kits doing work, manifolds needed to be re-welded, larger intercoolers were needed but they do in fact work, sometimes. My buddy Steve is getting an ebay kit for his MK3 VR6 and were gonna flog on it. There have been horror stories too tho but as with any company, nothing is perfect, just look at EBC's Red stuff pads, we had members here have issues with them.

not too mention that the Ebay kit, is universal, so you will have a lot of custom piping that will need to be done, you wount just be able to slap the kit all together and call it a day

and like alex said you still have to deal with fuel delivery.

+1

My turbo cost more than that whole kit, plus mine is on the cheaper side of the turbos.

yea dont spent your time on those ebay turbos they suck i frist started with a t3/t4 and like 3 months later the seals when out and i started smoking out the exhaust ,and plus those ebay kit are universal you still have to get everything custom made , this is how i did my pipe route .......

this is how

That picture looks familiar....

If I did a turbo I wouldn't want to put it in the fender like that, where's your air filter? I'd go rear mount but then you're getting all the dirt off the road in your filter because the tire's are stirring it up. I'd want to go with twin tiny turbos that would fit where the cats are so I'd have quick spool up. If I went turbo than money wouldn't be an issue because I'd go all out. This is why I'll probably never turbo my LS, but the thought is always there.

What I'm more likely to do, and probably will do is put a underdrive pulley on my LS and it revs real high in 5th gear so I'd gain some MPG and HP. Anyone have a step-by-step of how to replace the front main seal? I ask because it'd tell me what special tools is any I'd need and give me torque specs for the crank.

Edit: One last thing, how can you spend so much on this kit and not tune it! Are you crazy!?!?

The filter is behind the wheel well guard, not expose right in front of the tire

HKS makes a filter that is only 3" long. Might be a good idea unless you like rebuilding turbos often
