ok, Got another problem now. Looks like oil is leaking onto the passenger side cat.

Car's hot right now so I'm waiting to get under there but was wondering if anyone would know what I am dealing with or where to look.

The first time this happened I thought it was a bag that got caught on the catalytic converter as it smelled like plastic burning. Now it smells like oil burning and the smoke is def. coming from the passenger side catalytic converter.

I have the same thing happening, it seems like the oil pan gasket because when I got under mine the engine is clean above that. Not saying that's what's wrong but worth a look while you are under there.

that oil probably is blowing up on the cat from oil pan or coming down the block from a VC gasket, not much else unless oil was spilled in engine bay and it fell on cat. Or someone bled the brakes under pressure and it shot up out of bleeder onto the cat.

Finally got under there and it's the fill tube for the tranmission is overflowing b/c of the recent heat here in houston.

OHh forgot to add WHY it was doing this. The transmission pan at some point in the past couple months has been dented. It's got a dent pushing the entire center of the pan upwards about an inch. Thus the overflow. I'll need to take it off and pound it out. Going to wait and do the transmission cooler at the same time.

youve seen brake fluid that looked like oil???.. and how the HELL would it get on the cat from the caliper bleeder even if it WAS that dirty.. no splash shields?

I already got under the car yesterday and confirmed it's the fill tube for the transmission. Fluid is coming up the filltube and leaking out b/c of the transmission pan being dented. There is no fluid on the block / vc'ers and the fluid , once you get under the car is red. It's pretty obvious.

the fill tube doesnt go into the trans pan, so a dented pan shouldnt effect the tube seal, so just remove the 1 bolt and slide your fill tube out of the trans, go match an oring and be done, 5 minute job

o rEEEEally! Good info. Though the leak isn't coming from the seal at the trans pan it's coming from the top of the fill tube. The displacement is pushing it out of the top of the fill tube.

though this is good to know ( and would fix the problem it seems ) Where does the trans fill tube go to then?

it fits into the top of the pan flange, which is actually the trans body..

you mean its coming all the way to the top of the fill tube and leaking out? like where the level wand fits in?
if this is the case, i would say that youve got too much trans fluid in the trans, double check this by checking the trans fluid level with vehicle at idle
or youve got some blockage in the coolant lines, would suggest a filter replacement and flush service
