A/c line

Im in dire need of a high pressure a/c line for my mark viii I know there is alot of guys that part these cars regularly

The line I need goes from a/c condensor down to a bottle on passengers lower rad support then to the quick connect at the a/c compressor it's the high side line it's the skinny one off the compressor

According to my local ford dealer it's obsolete and was priced astronomically and after market showed nothing but I only called one supplier as it was end of the day

The part you're looking for is sometimes referred to as a "discharge line" and is listed under Motorcraft as part# YF2404. If you Google that number, you'll find a bunch, but mostly from no-name web sites, so it's a tossup whether they actually have it in stock.

Here's the issue: For some reason, Ford changed most of the A/C lines in 98, and you can't find any NEW 98-specific lines at all any more. I've yet to get a straight answer as to what makes them incompatible, or even if they really are incompatible. In any case, I bought one for a 93-97, which shows as still available from Ford, but haven't installed it yet. Part number is F7LZ-19972-AA, but it is indeed stupidly expensive (list is around $290). If you're set on new, give Max a call and see if he can get you one at a discount for closer to $200. His ad is over on the right of your screen. Otherwise you should be able to find one on ebay or someone here. The trick is finding one that isn't rotted out on the bottom like most are.

If it's a crack in the line, you might be able to have it welded. This was the case on a GM vehicle I own and I was able to get it welded up for $15.

i had a gm car years ago that someone welded that line too. it worked for all the years i had it just fine (the a/c, that is).

It's the muffler on the discharge line that rotted out apparently it's not need I'm gonna look I to having line repaired or a new one made

I'll keep that in mind I'm gonna look around at a possible repair first of the week then make my decision

Here's another idea. If the defective area is along a straight line, you might be able to cut out the bad section and use a A/C In Line filter.

That is discontinued but there are about 8 left in the country at dealers, and last retail was 291.00. your cost from me if they were available would have been about 190.00.
