How do you get the pins out that hold the trunk liner in? I need to get to the 3rd brake light from inside the trunk but idk how to get these pins out i'm afraid i might break them. here's two pictures
They make a tool just for this. It's a wide piece of metal with a slot at the end.
I've done okay using needle nose pliers to pull or pry them out. Any that are damaged are easy to replace. The auto stores sell various sizes (as well as the removal tool), and Home Depot/Lowes also see the plastic pins.
i need to get the entire light out so i can glue the rubber gasket around the light back into place. ive tried to get the light out just from the back seat but it didnt work out too well
I pulled the cover off about a week ago because it was rattling. Took about 30 seconds. I just gave it a squeeze and pulled. That's what she said. It came out pretty easy.
This is what you need to take off those pesky retainers.
This is probably the best $9.99 I spent when I was doing my complete interior swap on my LS.
BUT... I do remember while doing the swap that the 3rd brake light cover just squeezes together and slides off away from the window. That's the easy part. Now the bottom housing portion is harder to remove. You have to take out the rear dash cover. That's the FUN part
the old panel popper is one of the more handy tools to have, makes pulling off anything with snaps or pins. if i was only allowed to have three tools to install anything, it would definitely one of them (the other two would probably be a good set of crimpers, and an impact driver) proabably the best $10 you can spend
