Did the gen-2 LS come with a handsfree option? And if so, where did they place the mic?

I searched for "hands free" and got everything but. Thanks for the replies.

I don't think so... But there is something behind the NAV mirror - looks microphoneish. I think it is specifically for the navigation command, though.

The navigation system can do voice commands for both navigation and music.

Yes, 2nd gen offered a Motorola bluetooth hands free kit. (I think that the first gen had a wired in phone option.) I forget the part number, but I bought the wiring harness to add the Motorola kit to my 04 from Max.

I cut up the harness and used it with a Parrot bluetooth kit instead. I have some posts with pictures somewhere on this forum showing the install both with the normal factory radio, and with factory navigation.

I believe that the microphone for the bluetooth kit was supposed to go on the steering column. I like it on the mirror better.

I think that this was a dealer add-on only, and I don't think that you could factory order it with the kit, but the harness was factory supplied.

Operation is that the music source mutes or pauses (radio or cd) and then the phone plays through the speakers. It says "phone" on the radio display when the phone is in use.

Very very interested in how you made it work with the regular radio. Guess I will have to spend a while longer trying to find that post. The operation you described is exactly what I am looking for.
