Hi all...the amp for my left speakers are blown.

Anyone know how much these amps put out oem? OR better yet how much power can the OEM speakers handle??

I've got a decent kenwood 4 channel amp, 50 watts rms per channel. Can the oem speakers handle this?? I'd like to use the bypass harness and wire my amp up that way using the oem wiring (for now...I'll do a complete rewire in the future)

does this sound pretty doable?? Is the power wire going to the stock jbl amp enough to use for my kenwood amp, or do i have to run a new thicker power wire?

Skip the factory wiring where possible. Do it right the first time.

Most amps have crossovers cut-off's to prevent blowing out weaker speakers. Later on, upgrade the speakers too.

waste of time, dont use the factory wires, they are no better then phone cable, and as far as the factory speakers, the jbl speakers only sound decent hooked to the factory amp, hook then to an aftermarket amp and it sounds like dog poo, if you go against this and do it anyway, i'll be standing by with an " i told you " so.

damn...never anything ez lol

what effect does smaller gauge wire have on sound systems?

what about the rear speakers?? I actually have a sub amp too...it's got a stupid amount of power for what I need, but I suppose i could install both the 2 channel sub amp and the 4 channel kenwood amp...I've got a 3-4 year old alpine head unit that's still pretty decent....but I'll still have to come up with all new speakers and wiring

Then there you go. Use the 4-channel amp to run the speakers front and rear, and the two channel to run the subs. Just run new wires, and 0 gauge wire for your amp.

0 gauge? wow. I've some some 4 gauge wiring laying around....

what about the feed wire from the stereo to the amp in back...I'd like to re use those coming off the stereo since they don't really carry any power?? I need the thicker wire for the speakers...so maybe I can just run new speaker wire for now and use the feed signal stock from the old harness??

I'm overwelmed with projects right now, and my 66 mustang and 72 maverick are my priority....so I've got to be careful about turning the lincoln into a project car (already i've got an xcal coming monday and planning gears etc)

I like your style. I am all for the 0awg. However, from the sound of it. this would be overkill for this guy unless he plans on going big.

4awg will be plenty for you to run to your amps. as for the smaller effects of the speaker wiring, well smaller wires tend to heat up faster when putting more power through them. They can also add resistance to your current as well. think of draining your pool with a garden hose vs a fire hose. the same kind of principle will apply.

As for running new speaker wire it really is not as bad as it sounds. For me the hardest part was doing it right by running the front wires through the rubber passage in the door jam. other then that its cake to run the wires to the back.
