97 stumbles in gear

When my 97 warms up to temp, it starts stumbling when stopped in gear. As i pull away from a stop, it gets pretty bad until about 2000. If you put it into park, its gets much better but has a slight "miss". There are NO codes or miss fires according to obd2. The trans fluid is full and red. Anybody have any ideas?
 
Bad coil boots and probably in need of some new plugs would be my guess. 8 new boots and 8 new Autolite 764's should fix you right up. MAF may need to be pulled out and cleaned with MAF cleaner made by CRC. Could also be a vacuum leak.

cop, coil on plug.

Pull them one at a time and inspect.
If you have a oil in a plug hole issue, time for a valve cover change.

Common problem on a gen2.
 
I just noticed that I meant to say there are NO codes or miss fire counts coming from the obd2. there are autolites 764 double plats in there now. They are only 15,000mi on them and look good. The boots are original but aren't cracked. I plan on changing the boots anyway, but should I go with copper plugs? does it make a difference in these engines?

That's whats mostly preferred with the majority of us. Platinum isn't what it's cracked up to be. Not with these engines.
 
I opted for the NGK iridiums in my '93... I noticed a difference right away over a set of V-powers. Hard to believe i know, but it def. made my car run better, and picked up mpg's.

The boots don't have to be cracked to be bad. Mine looked perfect but were causing a severe misfire.
 
thanks for the replies. Im gonna do the plugs along with the boots. I'm also doing the valve cover gasket since it's starting to seep oil in some of the plug holes. I just find it strange that the computer isn't picking up the misses.
 
Just to close this subject, I did the valve covers and noticed that ALL 8 coils were cracked.....that's new to me. Well, with new coils and fresh plugs in there, she runs as good as new. Thanks guys.
