I'm running roughly 1300rms. My subs/amp just sound really weak like there craving some power that i cant give it. . I do plan on doing the big 3 when i replace it.

Was also thinking that due to all the problems with rebuilt units would it be better to get one from a chain w/ a lifetime warrenty and spending more vs online where i'll get the best deal, more amps but not as good of a warrenty and have to worry about shipping and whatnot when/if it dies..I will be keeping the old alt obviously so i could use it if 1 of the remans go out. Anyone?

I'm running an AZ reman and it's my 2nd one but so far, haven't had any problems with the 2nd one. The battery is also a Duralast 850/1000 made by Johnson Controls. Same company that makes DieHard, Motorcraft and many others out there. I have a 1000.1 amp on my subs and it's not straining for power at all but then again, the three 10's I have can't handle the amp I'm running. Amp is being sold and I'm going back to what I originally had before this setup.

As for the alternator, it seems like the last time I killed mine was after a few WOT's. Seems like they don't like to be wound out but it could be a hit and miss with the AZ alternators. GMAN has one and hasn't had any problems in a few years I think. Laser has one and you know he's has done many WOT's and I guess his is still working fine.

I'm not suggesting an AZ alternator, just telling my experience. O'Reilly's has Ultima remans and I went through 3 or 4 of them. I can say that the AZ alternator is better IMO but I wouldn't mind having 130 amp or better but like you, is it worth it if something happens? Also, O'Reilly's can order you an OEM Motorcraft alternator for a bit more but it only comes with a one year warranty. They said it was rebuilt by Motorcraft with original parts. It done fine until that car burned.

Thanks for the response nolimit. I'm sure the 130a would be fine for me..However that 200a looks alot better and for less money and i can keep my old one. If i had a completly busted one i'd prob buy it locally. But i feel as though i could take the chance and buy online. Hey, if it fails i'll have the spare in the trunk if need be.

So anyone, will the 200a above slide right in? I'll prob buy this weekend after i double check all the wireing and have the alt tested.

Ive been through 10+ auto zone alts in less then a year and people are pointing at my alt again from my most current symptoms. im about to go take my alt and get it beefed up. personally i don't think 130 amps is enough for the car and a little radio let alone a nice set up. im kinda curious about your audio system. what AWG are you running and what are you planning on using. Ive done the big three on this car. i still get dimming inside lights which annoys the piss out of me. i also average between 13.3-13.5 volts off my alts. every now and then ill get close to 14v when i first start the car but after about 20 minutes or so. its back down. what really kills me is when the stereo is banging i can still drop it down to 11.5 volts. maybe im just sucking up way to much power.

so whats a package try blow through. im also banging 2 12 type-r's ive got a hifonics 1605d. 1600rms at 1 ohm. i know for sure im not pulling anything near what its rated because of how weak these alts are. im even backed up with a 25 farad cap as well

check this link out. im sure you'll like what ya see. if ya scroll down far enough you can see the big 3 as well

That's alot of f'n alt's! The highest reading i get is right at startup and never goes above 14v. I hope once i replace the tired one i dont run into the problems ur having. Sounds like a bitch..
I'm running 2ga, gounding at the rear seat bolts.I have a duralast gold 850/1000 battery.
All my blowthrough is is just a cutout in the shape of a oval through both the sheetmetal in the rear deck and the carpeted panel.About 2ftx11". Subs are facing upwards into said hole. Looks good now but ima redo the carpeting this spring, gotta find the right shade of tan though.

you gota take a pic of that id like to see it. . i was thinking of cutting out some spots for some 6.5's myself. ya im running the same battery myself. the main reason i went through so many alts is half the ones you get are just crap. most of em end up making a high pitched squeal and a few of them would just burn out on high rpm's like stomping the gas at the light :) .. once you get a descent one tho they tend to last for a few months. i ended up swapping out a bad one for a good one and then using another bad one for a good one a few days later that i pulled out of a junk yard. they never questioned it. so i always have a back up alt to use. im looking into having one of them turned up to 200 amps maybe 250. should make a huge difference for the amps and the subs. the type-r's can be beastly

Yeah, i heard some wot's will burn em up pretty quick.

My type r's are currently sealed..Being sealed and my alt f'd up it sounds like horse sh it..When i had my 3 r's hooked up to my current amp it was nutsss..Wired it to .67ohms but with imp rise it was a hair over 1 ohm. I want to port mine but from what i've been told its impossible to get it to spec and still beable to fit in the spot i want it..

Anyways..I was forced to use .org's search function as the one here sucks and the fact only 2 poeple tried helping..
Seems as though they'll fit..I was able to get 1 guy to come down 40 on 1 of em(130a), free shipping on the 240a, but the one i really want(200a) there was no price differance.

b/t and my beauty panel vvvvv

I have had three in one car. My 95 garnett. First it was a reman optima, then a factory Ford 140 amp cobra alt (that was from Mr. zee) . This was after three years of burning them out. I went and bought a Slowreiley's Lifetime alt.

Basically I gave up and bought a lifetime alt from someone I knew would replace it on warranty.

I have the one from DB electrical (your first Ebay link) and it has performed flawlessly over the past few months that it has been on the car. For $105 shipped you can't beat it.

haha..Thats funny..I was on ebay trying to remember the name of that company cuase i had heard good things..And all this was after i put the link up:slam

Is that the identical alt you got?

Hmmm...lookin at reviews on google/yahoo of the bnrparts(the 200a alt) appears to show they are hit or miss, dont put out rated power ect....Dbelec as i heard before and that marked8 mentioned seems to have much better reviews..I might just have to go with the 130a after all.....Guess it'll give me a little extra money to pick up some other goodies for the b3...

Yep, Identical. You could not tell it from a brand new one. I researched them extensively before I purchased and heard a lot of good things on various sites.

Another option would be a local rebuilder, that way you can go yell at them in person if it dies.

Any luck on finding a good resource. my town went dry for people that will rebuild them. found once place left and they want 270 bucks for a 200amp. thats just rape. i think id rather take a chance on one of the bay ones from bnr first.

Well i ordered my 130a from db yesterday. Seemed bnr was iffy from the reviews. Paid 105 shipped. I also got the big 3 ready for when i install the alt this weekend. i'm not using 0 awg though..I sifted through my spare wire bin(big) and was able to locate all the correct lengths in 4 awg with ring terminals already on em. Saved me 12 bucks in terminals and 20 on new 4ga. The only thing i had to buy for it was 10ft of wire loom for $3 and a $12 anl fuse holder w/ a 150a fuse. I think the fuse is the right amprage...
