What's happening fellas....

I know a lot of you guys have that infamous steering wheel clunk when you cut the wheel left and right. There have been a lot of mixed views on what exactly was causing the clunking, but no definite answer.

I have been dealing with the same issue for a while and finally decided to drop the car off to Ford to have it fixed (got an aftermarket warranty, so it was covered). I got the car back today and they said it was the steering shaft that was causing all of the clunking.

I didn't go for any long drives, but the car has much better road feel now. The steering is more precise and feels tight. Also, I used to have a slight vibration before, but that disappeared too.

Anyways, we will see how things go, I might hang out to the car for a while. You know what that means - nice 18s on all four corners.;)

Totally glad to hear man! I am anxious to do my rack and see if it is that alone, or a combo of the steering shaft and the rack. I know for sure I have a problem on the driver's side of the rack so I guess it's one thing at a time for me.
Did they replace the piece inside the car or the piece from outside the car to the rack?

Thanks for the heads up. If you go 18's I call dibs on your 17's. I have been looking all winter for a second set to put winter tires on.

He's probably gonna want to keep the 17's for winter.

I think they replaced the upper shaft. Since, i am not 100% sure, i will give you the part number:5W4Z-3B676-AA
The part number should help your mechanic to figure out which one it is.

Or for when he sells it.. But that may be never now that she's running perfect again.. :D

Exactly!

I still have to change out the front sway bar end links - they have sitting in my trunk for a month. Then, she will be complete.

Not a problem.
I am gonna hang on to the 17s, so they go back on the car, whenever i am ready to get rid of it.

Looks like $150 if you order from fordparts.com [208 list but individual dealers pricing was 150]
