im looking to put in a Set of Hids, im looking for a 55w 4300k set. or maybe a 55w 5000k set. i just need to know what i need to get. i was looking at some of the kits on ebay, and i got confused.. LOL

Also will this help my blind as a bat gen 1?

Thanks,

The ones I got off ebay are 55W 5000k's and they look pretty good. I haven't had a chance yet to drive it at night, but I'll be testing it out Wednesday night. As far as what you need, most are plug-n-play. The set I got just plugged in and worked fine with no mods or extra equipment needed at all.

Hids in gen 1 housings work great granted your housings are in good shape if not I recommend getting them restored lots of info about that on here

Good housings plus hid lights you won't have a problem seeing again

I'm currently waiting on two sets, one 35w, the other 55w both 6K for mine.

Correction, I was mistaken. The HID's I put in my '96 are the 35W 5000K lights. I thought they were 55w, but upon looking at the package, they are actually 35w and they are pretty bright. So we'll see how they look at night eventually:)

You'll see a big difference if you went from halogens to HID's but even a bigger difference when they're cleared up. Once you get the outer part clear, you can see what the chrome looks like. If the bottom only is burned, it's not that big of a deal. Any backside burn is what takes away. I know it's a high price but if you can get new ones, it's well worth it and no more worries about burning the chrome with a 35 watt HID kit. They'll last you as long as you own the car. I'll go out in the garage in a little bit and get some close up pics with them on. I have a pic of the brights and lows on at the same time. The low beams at the time when I done this were 8000K and then I tried 12,000K and then went to 10,000K and just last week I put in the 6000K I have had put back.

That looks awesome. I used some headlight cleaner on mine a while back and it cleaned the outer surface a little. I can see the chrome on the inside and most of it is gone. I need new housings desperately, but I just can't spend that much money. If I could get 'em for $20 bucks each, I'd jump all over it. Anything over that, I just can't do right now. It sucks being broke. But I will eventually get up the gumption to pull my housings and restore them. I just don't know when.

Did you have to run a relay kit at all?

No relay kit was used. Digital slim ballasts and the normal inexpensive HID bulbs. Pics below were just now taken for different views.

WOW, damn i like the look of that.

do they have a Blue tint to them at all?

The 6K don't, not compared to the 10K. Pic below is of the 94 I had with 10K and it also had like new housings. They were blue.

I shut the lights of in the tunnel to help aim them and use the walls on both sides as guides and level surface.

i think im going to do 5000k Low's and 6000k hi's.

what do you all think. i dont want to do 10's there way to "blue" for me.

Drove mine around a little in the dark to see how they look. They're substantially brighter than the old halogens, but not enough. My headlights are too far gone. Maybe I need some HID's in the hi beams. I'll probably do that later. Then restore the lenses.

Swap them over to the highs and aim them down some. Just until you get the housings taken care of.

just got done restoring the driver side lights and side marker.

BEFOR..... was semi polished from a mothers headlight kit....

This is the driving conditions..... the only reason its so bright is because of all the snow. trust me, it gets DARK.

I currently have 35W 5000k by DDM Tuning in my 95 Housings. i bought new housings a year ago and these were the only lights ever turned on in them. They have superb output and are cool enough that it has had NO effect on the chrome inside. I would highly recomend these. And to top it off, if i remember correctly i paid $38 shipped. brand new. www.DDMtuning.com

thanks guys. going to get a pair for my Low's and Hi's tomorrow. From DDM tuning!!!!!

Your second link doesn't work. But you don't need the slim ballast version, there's plenty of room to mount the regular ballasts. 9005 is the bulb number. You may or may not need the 'error code eliminator.'

ok so im looking at kits. i know i need the bulb type needs to be 9005. also do i need to get the error code eliminator?

Do i want this one?

or this one?

Just snip the wire and there will be no errors and even if, all it requires is a simple 2 second press of the reset button. Will not happen again until the car has been shut off and restarted and then the headlights turned back on again.

It's on the lamp out module. Pull the glove box out to get to it. You will need to cut the brown/light blue stripe wire.

i guess they removed the product. oh well looks like ill be getting the slims LOL.
