1st time posting, I hope someone can help me out. I looked on the forums and couldn't find an answer to my question. Does a Gen 2 or 2002 center console fit on the Gen 1\ 2000 model? I hate the stupid first year center console and would like to change it out.

Thanks

2002 is not gen II. Gen II is 2003 to 2006. The gen II consoles don't really fit if for no other reason than gen IIs have an electronic parking brake instead of the pull handle that the gen Is have.

The 2002 (gen I) console should fit your 2000 (also gen I). (The consoles are different, but both cars are gen I.)

I put a 2002 center into my 2000. No problems. Didn't like the stock flip up cup holder. Think I paid 30 dollars from boneyard. Only thing I didn't do was wire up the 2002 console rear cig lighter which the 2000 does not have.

And you can actually make this work with a rewire.

Yes, only really a couple screws hold it in. Think I looked up a post on it to see steps. Always nice to have preview so you don't break clips or tabs and such. Think it took like 45 minutes with vacuuming out car and cleaning up. Plus if you take the one out of boneyard car you can practice on that one.

I know. Its the fact NO ONE will be smoking in back of car so no biggie. If peeps want to just run power wire jumper from front lighter to rear one some might want it as a power port.

Agreed....i dont believe in smoking inside vehicles at all.

air fresheners only cover up the smell.

Cool, been thinking about doing this for a little while now but it's not a top priority task. Just something I think would be nice to do, ya know

I was the same way. I didn't want to pay ebay prices PLUS shipping on the large item. So it was a wait to find one in local boneyard and one came up. Car was in mint shape silver with black gut with chrome stock 5 spokes 17's on it. I sold some parts off it to peeps on here when they asked to help them.

You can just change the top part of the center with a 2001-2002 onto a 2000 base but it leave a tiny gap in one place I think by Ebrake handle ,hard to see. Some peeps just do this also. I did the whole swap.

The Ebay link I posted above is just the top part correct

That one states wrong year 2000, 2001-2002 are chrome rim cupholders. That would take minutes to swap out top.

Yeah it only took me a couple of minutes to swap. Not hard at all.

Depending on your inyerior color. You might have to swap out the arm rest too. I have the light graphite. The 2002 arm rest was a little darker then the 2000 arm rest. I just swap them over.
