so.... last night i hit a deer..... it was already dead, but it was right over a hill and laying in the middle of the road, so i had no idea it was there and hit. Definately need a new radiator, and a new bumper, but i've been thinking lately that i need a new alternator, do you guys think there is anyway i can say that i think the deer messed up the alternator and maybe caused my mis-fire... lol i can always be hopeful...

Also... theres blood and guts all over my car which i can wash off but... the inside of my car smells like burning flesh, so any ideas on how to get that smell out?

thanks

You can get those odor eliminators you spray into your cabin air intake vents. Do a bit of googling and you'll find the best one.

Sh!t hasn't been going too good for you lately.. I would say change the cabin air filter because maybe crap got in there causing the smell..

If that doesn't work, 1000s on air fresheners will do just fine.. :)

here's what to do

replace cabin air filter first.

next start engine, put a/c on with about 72f temp, highest fan setting, do not recirculate air in cabin, roll down all windows

open hood, find openings in plastic over cabin filter.

with engine running spray entire can of lysol into cabin filter vent. pick a smell that you like.

for additional treatment, roll windows back up and recirculate air in cabin.

Take out the old filter, do the Lysol spray procedure with out filter, then put in new filter.

Damp Rid works well also.

I left the sunroof cracked in my other car and it rained in it and got a terrible mold/mildew smell. DR took all the moisture and smell out.

Just open it up and leave it in the car overnight.

Sorry bearsfan. I HATE deer. Their only good for one thing , Jerky!

Cleaning sprays might leave an overpowering chemical smell. Don't get me wrong , I'm sure anything is better than what you have now! After washing engine and exterior and changing the air filters I would use a product like Damp Rid. And a hell of a lot of Fabreeze.

maybe you need to "beechyour" meat.

well unfortunately i can't run the car for more then maybe 30 seconds before it starts to over heat, also we only have a trailer available to us, so we're gonna tow the car to the shop and leave it there for them to look at it monday. as much as i'd love for them to cut me a check and i fix it myself, i just am feeling too lazy lately so im gonna let them do it

as for the lysol procedure, im going to have to wait until i get the car back to do that, but for now i have quite a few air fresheners in there and it seems to be working for now, but its possible stuff get in the filter because there was a bunch of shit under the hood when i opened it up

Sorry to hear. This past month has not been a good one for LS'es out there. .

i'll assume sumone else hit it and it didnt make it to the shoulder.

Check with the dealer about the Motorcraft odor eliminator. I think it was around $20 when I bought it. That stuff works miracles. Just do the Lysol and follow it with odor eliminator in the vents.

i'll have to go check that out, thanks

Sounds familiar. That's one of my biggest fears (hitting an animal). I'm always flying down Sauk Trail thru that forest preserve around 1am and also down Western.
