So has anyone done this, or researched it in depth? If so, how was your experience.

I know a bigger pump and injectors are needed, along with a tune.
 
Wouldn't worry about it unless you are going for big blower power. I know a 04 Cobra making 727rwhp and about to bump qnother 100 or so and his ONLY mods are Whipple 2.3, tune, big pumps, 80lb injectors and E85. With pump gas that motor would have melted.
 
I am actually leaning towards going blower with this motor. E85 would create a bit of a safety net than you may not have otherwise. Initial cost may be recouped by this summer if gas does in fact go $3.50/gal or more.

Thinking of a doing a 255 pump, a boost a pump (have on sitting in the garage), 60lb injectors. Think 60's will be enough for 10lbs.
 
The Mark I had ran it pretty well. I forget the numbers. But I did have a 255 pump. Injectors where stock though.
 
I've seen some of the guys on the mustang sights putting 700-800rwhp down with E85.
I know its cheaper at the pump and you can throw down some big power but you do burn more to make that power.
If the goal is to make power dooooeeeit!
If the goal is to be cheaper at the pump; I think you'll just stop more often.
 
20% for what exactly? Cant apply that rule to every car. If the stock injectors are already ample (larger than needed), they are fine. If they are just "sufficient" for regular fuel, then upgrade needed.

I think the stock injectors are pretty good. Mine were EV2 though. 4-port. Maybe that helped a little? A lot is in the programing though.
 
E85 being cheaper is somewhat of a benefit. It likely is a wash in the end though, work pays the majority of my fuel bill.

I am looking at Vortech's mainly, but am open to other blowers. So injectors and pump need to be upgraded anyway. Being it is a stock engine, there will not be 700hp numbers. :lol: However, if I could get closer to 500hp safely then cool. Wont mind living safely in the mid 400's though.

Unity, was your car basically stock? E85 doesn't burn as efficient, and requires the use of more fuel. On a stock setup though, I could see it running without issue. Kinda like newer vehicles running fine with either.
 
Well if your going that route, bigger injectors regardless!

Mine had an 04 power plant from an Aviator with a Mach intake (hence the EV2 injectors I decided to use). But for the most part, it was stock.

Mid to low 400's is all the rods can take in our motors and thats with a good intercooled setup.

What is the E85 availability like inyour area? My friends that run E85 live in Dallas so there are stations near by. Where I live the closest E85 pump is over 50 miles away.
I wouldnt want to give up the MPG though.
 
Availability is pretty good in this area. Have to say mpg is what I am most curious about. Avg right now is 19.2mpg mixed driving. One of the reasons why I will likely be dropping down gears too. 4.10's are kind of annoying me at this point. :lol:

When Kevin was at 600 rwhp and switched from premium to E85 and added the new injectors (no other changes) he went from 17mpg to 13mpg. Now I think he gets 10.

Well he is running 24lbs of boost now, 80lb injectors, tripple Ford GT supercar pumps and dual drivers. :lol:
 
Yeah I have seen that car in a few threads. Makes getting a Cobra more tempting than before. Course as of late I have started getting the F-body itch... for the thousandth time. :lol:

Think my "end game" for the car, is just going to get the suspension,brakes,etc done and add a blower. Will make it a lot of fun to drive, yet it will still be capable of daily duty without issue.

Don't quote me on that just yet though. The voice in the back of my head, says to sell it to help the Cobra fund. :lol:

Yeah and I have thought that too but the Lincoln is just..... better. I had a couple Cobras and loved them but they were still Mustangs. When you do the suspension and brakes and blower on a Mark it turns into an excellent grand touring car.
Plus when I go to car shows I get more attention. At the SVT get together I was parked near Kevins Cobra and Erics Cobra (the redfire one in the links) and mine was the one with the crowd around it.

When you do up a Mark its such an unusual car that nobody is familiar with and when they see it up close they get all giddy. I have much more joy showing the Mark then I did my Cobra and the Cobra was pretty cool.
