Suspension list?

STFU noob and go play on your 4 banger boards. If your friend or brother or ghey lover cant get a full on race car to pull 1g then they dont know what the fock they are doing. The new ZR1 will pull just over a G continuous and a new LIVE AXLE Mustang GT can pull 1 G and thats BOX STOCK.

My car could only manage .82Gs when it was stock and this is using a G-Tech (yeah, cheesy) but its readings were always within .01 of what the NAV system recorded so seemed close enough for me.

Brace the lower rear controll arms so they dont flex, support the front suspension lower points so they dont flex, add large sway bars, a 4 clutch trac lok, lower the center of gravity, put on tires with near DOUBLE the foot print and you can see why the car can now corner with the same level as a new GT or Vette.

I AM NOT SAYING I CAN OUTHANDLE A ZR1! They can exit faster and enter latter plus have more wiggle room when they slide and turn in faster on tight decreasing radius corners, BUT if it was a long sweeping corner I can pull the same lateral Gs.

This aint my first rodeo and I have SCCA raced in Hawaii for years and built many many performance cars and ALWAYS play with suspension first. I understand the dynamics, spring rates, bound, rebound, suspension travel vs. camber/toe. I know how to set chit up, I know how to drive and I know how to read a digital display.

Drive your cute little 4 door out here, I have miles and miles of twisties and excellent roads. By the third corner you wont even see my tail lights any more but may just hear the faint whine of my blower as I exit turn 6 and you enter turn 4.

your right i called him it was 1.85 and pulling out at just under 2 at WOT but either way i wanna first watch u say that to my face and second i didnt know your were still a high schooler callin people names. your starting a shop i thought u were an adult. o wait my spelling and grammer is all messed up for u to understand right? o ya i forgot i could give two SH*ts. well either way i wanna watch a video or when i do get my benz done i will come down there and im sry but ull be seeing my tail lights w/ my 4 ways flashing cuz a 4 door 4 banger isnt wat your gonna be seeing. so let it go alright SIR because i could care less what u call me or who u think i am, but im sry someone to put that much time in to writing a comment back is obviously wishin on somethin they anit got. Peace and let it be old timer

o and encase u didnt know its kinda hard to drive a car across water FYI, and cars i understand HAHAHA your so funny! dude im 23 and have been workin on muscle cars since i was 11 hondas were a high school thing because i liked how they looked not because of what they have under the hood. and also my cutesy little cosworth isnt a 4banger like a honda its got a little more back ground then that and is worth a little more.

Southern Italy, August 13 - 21, 1983. In the early morning of August 13, 1983, under strict supervision of 102 FIA sport commisioners three Mercedes 190 E 2.3-16's (labeled green, red and white) started out on a 50,000 km high-speed test run, demanding any amount of stamina on the part of cars, drivers and test department staff. According to the regulations the cars for the record runs were just slightly modified compared to the future production cars. The bodywork was lowered by 15 millimeters, the front apron was extended downwards by 20 millimeters, the fan was removed and the power steering was replaced by mechanical steering. The Nardo cars also featured self-leveling suspension on the front axle to keep the ground clearance at a constant level. The gearbox had a longer 5th gear ratio to reach 250 km/h at 6000 rpm. Reverse gear was unnecessary and therefore removed, this would have costed 0,4 km/h top speed. The record track in Nardo is precisely 12.64026 kilometers long, has a diameter of some four kilometers and slightly banked lanes, hereby permitting driving almost without lateral forces even in the speed range over 240 km/h. According to the engineers' calculations, the cars were to reach the 50,000 km target in the morning of the eighth day, provided there were no problems. The pit stops were performed as scheduled and the 18 drivers (six per car) were up to the strain. Lap times were to be three minutes and five seconds to reach the targeted average speed of 240 km/h including pit stops. Due to the cars' low Cw value of 0.30, they were expected to reach somewhat higher top speeds than the production versions. Every two-and-a-half hours, the cars came in for refueling and a change of driver during a 20-second pit stop. The fuel tanks had a capacity of 160 liters instead of the standard 70 liter tank. Fuel consumption during the record run was a slightly over 20l per 100 km's. The heavily strained rear tires had to be replaced every 8,500 kilometers and the front tires every 17,000 kilometers. During these five-minute tire change breaks, the oil and oil filters were also replaced and the valve clearance was checked. In total 243 stops were made. The mechanics changed every 14 hours and had to do a pitstop every 50 minutes. To protect the headlamp lenses against soiling and damage during the daytime, they were covered by plastic caps. The radiator mask was fitted with a quick-change insect screen to prevent clogging of the radiator. After 201 hours, 39 minutes and 43 seconds, two of the cars had clocked up 50,000 kilometers with an average speed of 247 km/h and the 190 2.3-16 achieved three world records and nine international class records. The replacement parts carried on board in compliance with the regulations had not been required - the cars had been running perfectly smoothly despite the extreme strain. The third car was laid up for three hours by a broken distributor rotor arm - an item costing just a few cents, which the pit crew were not allowed to replace but had to repair. For enthusiasts, one of the cars that took part in the record run can still be seen in the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart (Germany).

either way u look at it "Our" marks anit gonna have a back ground like this :)

Then there is only one way to settle it there pearly necklace;) Put your money where your mouth is and race Laser then! I love when these noob's come on here and start blah blah blah my car can do this and my car can do that! Oh yeah, reading your posts makes me wanna smash my head into a wall with your spelling and how you TRY to put words together! You might sell your b.s on another forum but not here!

Here are some cars you may understand:

http://www.modified.com/tech/0805_sccp_benchracing/index.html

RX-7 FD3s 1.06g
EVO VIII 1.06g
Miata 1.08g
Honda Fit race 1.09
Honda S2000 Race 1.15

All are cars that easily surpass the 1g mark. Only two are race cars, the others are street cars with upgraded suspension and tires.

F1 cars are seeing 3+ g's and this is all continuous.

When I said I spiked a 1.5 that means nothing and was prolly from a tail wag.
F1 cars see 5g spikes.

after I picked my self up off the floor after reading Honda Fit race car I googled it and came up with this

To continue on our return to 'hard-core' basics, after looking at how the various versions of the Fit/Jazz fares on the dyno, I thought it would be most appropriate now to whet our appetites by featuring some 'interesting' Fit/Jazz. We start off with what is probably the most famous and well-known modified Fit in the world, the famous Spoon (Endurance) Racing Fit.

A few years ago, Spoon took enthusiasts by surprise when they developed a Race Fit and used it to participate quite successfully in endurance races in Japan. Ichishima subsequently even took this car overseas and again competed quite successfully in endurance races notably in the U.S. My first exposure to the Spoon Race Fit was as usual through HOT VERSION. Being a big fan of the Fit/Jazz, my eyes popped when Tsuchiya & Hattori reviewed the Spoon Fit and then proceeded to race it against a stock DC5, Tsuchiya's modded AE86 and a Yashio (Toyota) Super Vitz with a 160ps 1.5l Super-Charged/Intercooled engine and weighing 980kg. In the 3 laps battle, the Spoon Fit fared pretty well against the three cars, delivering very close lap times to the much more powerful super-charged Vitz and keeping up quite well with the stock DC5 and even Tsuchiya's AE86. Therefore when I was finalizing my Spoon visit during my coverage of the Tokyo Motor Show way back in 2003, one of the specific items in the itenerary that I requested for was to be allowed to check out this Spoon Race Fit up close. This then is the photo album from that visit.

Some technical details for those who might not know them. The Spoon Race Fit is based on the original 'first generation' JDM Honda Fit 1.5T. Spoon developed its Race Fit a few months before its first MMC (minor model change) for Japan in October 2003 so the car is still using drum brakes for the rear. Also at that time, the Fit 1.5T comes with only a CVT-7 gearbox option.

Stock, the Fit 1.5T introduced the L15A VTEC which by now should be quite well known. It is 1.5l 16V SOHC VTEC in configuration, generating a max power of 110ps at 5,800rpm (JDM version) and red-lining at around 6300rpm. As noted, the car comes with only the MMT-S Multimatic gearbox (known as the CVT-7 outside of Japan) and also introduced the then new steering wheel actuated manual sequential shift option. The latest versions now comes with a rear disc brake option, no doubt catering for the preference enthusiasts has for full front & rear disc brakes as well as a 5MT gearbox option.

Notable features that Spoon added to the Fit besides the obvious things like body stripping, roll-cage and racing bucket seats included swapping the Multimatic for a 5-peed manual gearbox which is of course equipped with an LSD. The rear drum are replaced with ventilated types (with cooling fins). I think it is important to note that with this Racing Fit, Spoon proved that using drums for the rear works plenty well. Good enough for 24 hours endurance racing and so certainly good enough for our street use, at least for the level of performance the Fit/Jazz VTEC is capable of ! Cooling ducts are added for the front brakes. Brake calipers are the stock 1-pot items but using Spoon brake pads. Spoon uses Motul lubricants in this Racing Fit - Motul 300V for engine oil, Motul Comp 75W-90 for gearbox oil and Motul Dot-4 brake fluid (the stock ABS system was retained). Wheels are 195/50R15 95V and tyres used are Yokohama Advan A048s. This race car weighs only 800kg compared to the stock car's ~1000kg. Although HOT VERSION did not state the engine power, the now famous review by BEST MOTORing INTERNATIONAL's Taro Koki quoted Ichishima as saying he's managed to squeeze 125ps from the engine (i.e. up 15ps or ~14%) and that is in August 2003 so no doubt the car is quite certainly a lot more powerful now.

As with our standard feature car articles, each of the icon below can be clicked on to get the larger VGA 72dpi photo. Enjoy ! Check back often for more feature Fit/Jazzes. The next one should be a nice surprise !

Yeah I know the power to weight blah blah but when these guys get a giant woodie after stiping their car and hopping it up to squeeze 125 hp out of a race car I can't stop laughing, who the hell keeps drum breaks on a "race car"

HA HA HA HA !!!!! Your killing me you really are!!!!(quoted from TOP GUN), Noob's again is that all ya'll have to say towards someone thats new to a forum. And what if I wasn't then what would you say other then noob's.

And I Dont remember saying "my car can do this, or that" all i remember saying is basicly my car can set but to do this and that. Is my car there yet no... will it be there yes. Which is why i dont understand all this. I'll keep somethin going if it has to do with talkin smack towards me, which is why im still typing. So just keep that in mind..... never said it could i said the Cosworth could.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: ok! I have a life and don't really give a frogs fat @ss if you want to keep it going! I have seen guys like you fade away on this forum! The moment you start your typing skills (LOL) then people can pretty much figure what king of a person they are dealing with! Now I am going to sit back and admire (really laughing out loud) your mad typing skills and comebacks! Here we gooooooooooooo..............................................................................

O ya you can tell so much about someone over a computer. Real intelligent, but then again i guess i cant type that right cuz im not good at spelling which makes me stupid. But i can tell something about u just by lookin at your car on your profile.

Really we had no idea what you said because you seem to write like a 15 year old girl texts.

You come here making claims that are untrue then call others claims that have been verified with other members on here false. You SIR are a dumb ass and I have no problem calling you that to your face.

And whats with the long drawn out speech over the Cosworth? So fuggin what, they removed the power steering, various other parts and REVERSE GEAR to get to what, 155 mph? HA! Then go on to say the Marks have no history like that? Thank freakin Kwanza Bot!

You SIR are truley showing your ignorance. Since you like to look up useless chit let me throw out a couple cars you may want to Google on the internet machine to help you see the Marks history. Search for the Bonnivill Mark VIII, the Tasca Mark VIII or the NASCAR Mark VIII.

And lastly, look how much crap was removed to your beloved Cossy to acheive 12 more MPH vs how much MORE weight was added to mine, kept reverse, no body mods and with my fat ass driving achieved 172 MPH on a freakin farm road.

You make claims that your car is soooo much better, thats just untrue. Your car was designed for rally racing yet MB realized they had no chance with it and never put it on the course. James May thought it was the superior car yet got his ass kicked by a broke down Ford Cosworth and a BMW M3 with mismatched suspension.

Your car is not the holy grail and is only a base model, bottom line 4 banger 4-door benze. My grandmother had one at one point too. My grandfather bought it for her cause her Caddy was too powerfull and it was a 4.1HT Fleetwood!

Fuggin n00bs.

And what would that be????LOL!!! You make me laugh and also make me thankful for my life because other people (hint hint) have pathetic lives! Yes I can tell over the computer...It's not too hard and I am sure anyone can on here as well!

Well, now that we got this far I can happily say I have proved how much one loves a car and loves to talk :q:q:q:q about others. This all started over me saying I want my lincoln to handle like my stock broke down suspension havin mercedes which still handles good with a mix matched suspension because some jack ass (f)ucked it up before I got to it all over 2 30 dollar parts. And right after i made that comment all i got was F your cosworth i had one blah blah blah its a POS this and that. And ignorant ya i can be and did I say all this to do this intentionally yes. is that childish yes but i just wanted to see how far all of you would take it just to prove a point. And for the last time "ALL I ASKED WAS HOW TO MAKE IT HANDLE A LITTLE BETTER LIKE MY COSWORTH OR MY INTEGRA I USE TO HAVE." never intended on make a big to tell big mouth "LASER" had to go and say somethin, about a car i own. So with that being said, Be happy with your car I am even on a stock falling apart air suspension because its still a nice @ss car as is my mercedes. You call me a child yet i sit here slappin down random :q:q:q:q just to see how far you would take an argument and u took the bait hook line and sinker.

So from what I've read the coil over is the cost effective way to go. My only question is, in comparison to the ride which is better I.E dose it still feel like your riding on the bags? And how do I go about droping the front 1.5 in and the back 1.25. Its not a civic so I haven't seen sites that have the conversion with lowering springs.

So if someone could write a list on what to get that would be nice and also where to get the best "hard" parts, as in the arms bushings. My front left ball joint is shot,:( shouldn't have got the cheap Ebay upper arms.

Thanks for the help.

pearl98.....I think you might fit in better here.

Ah, no it didn't. You asked about suspension mods and was answered. I broke it down on what to do to make it handle better then the Cosworth. Wasn't dogging on your car at the time, I only stated fact. With proper mods the car can handle better then a 20+ year old base model Benz.
Where all this started was here:
Well not to start this up again but, I went to my forum for my cosworth and heres what I came up with don't tear to much because i figured this is what would be said I just didnt wanna say it my self

"Incidentally, there's no way in hell you're pulling anywhere near 1 g in the corners with a Mark VIII. I don't know how you're measuring, but it's simply not possible."
You tell me something is not possible when you have no idea what is and what is not possible. You ask for advice, I give it and have the car to back it up yet you just tell me I am full of chit and have no idea what I am talking about.
"To put things in perspective, a fully prepped club racer running coilovers and R-compound tires doesn't even approach 1 g continuous. That's slicks & wings touring car territory."
You back up your lack of knowledge with this statement. You don't have the facts and then stated your thoughts as fact when we all know they are way way off.

"I'm in the camp of "no chance". There's no way a Mark VIII can out-handle a 16V - even bone stock. I've never driven any American car short of a 'vette that had anywhere near the poise and agility of a 16V. Maybe you can achieve decent testing numbers with such mods (and I also doubt his claims), but in the real world there's just no comparison when it comes to how the car reacts under various changes in attitude and input. The balanced 16V is very forgiving, while the heavily modded Mark VIII would likely have a tendency to bite you in the butt when pushed."

Then you add in someone elses input that once again isn't based on facts. Is a Cosworth a good handling car? Sure it is. Its fairly lite and has a decent suspension. I am not fully up on these cars but don't they have a 5 link rear? Upper/Lower control arms> 5 link IMHO. But what do I know, Ive only had one Ferrari, several 944/911s, severl BMWs, Benz 560SEC, several Vetts, several RX-7, couple Supras, few 300z, countless Cobras, Audi S4 and a few other sports cars so really I have no idea what a car is supposed to feel like.

Yes the Cossie is fairly forgiving but all Benz cars are. And yes, on fast transitions the sheer bulk of my car means I have to be on it to keep it under control but the car never bites me in the ass. While there is no tire noise the car does communicate well to let me know its about to slide.

I am honored that I have made such an impact on you that you felt the need to go to a Benz forum to discuss me and my car and what it can and can not do but if you want to know for sure then come on out. I will let my Mark speak for itself, its a bit more eloquent then I. :)

This is a LINCOLN and CADILLAC webstite pearly! I belong to cherokeesrt8(for my jeepgcsrt8) forum and Explorer(for my 5.0 exploder) forums also I rarely speak of let alone BRAG about them on here! I am sure there are other sites you can go on and do that there but when you start running your mouth on here, make sure you get your facts straight because you will get your @ss handed to you!

Nice exclamation point.... Was someone talking ^

Laser I'll take that offer when I make it out to hawaii because like I said Ive always wanted to go there. And seeing a bunch of nice cars wouldn't be a bad thing to see while I'm there. So to end it cars can be what u have the money to make them. And good luck to the shop hope all goes well.

I don't live in hawaii any more. You know I live in the same state as you do. Look, it don't have to be an all out brawl. I bet some others here would show up and it would be fun. We can BBQ here and have a cooler with beers afterward. I may have enough money next week to order new rear tires and we can go play on the back roads.

Or it can just be a grudge match and you can see just what a Mark can do.

Well from the way you explain it I would just like to see how much a Mark can do. As I said the **** is not together at the moment because I'm fixing the problems that someone else decided not to. So all you would see is my mark in its "eh" condition. If I get the **** done this weekend I think I could take it for a road trip see if shes still got the will to sit at 135 for a few hours.

yous can't go 132. Its limited to 127. And the idea was to bring the compact sedan.

Oh right, being as I have the sucky unlimited version, I forget about y'alls restrictions..poor me

Ya I was talking about the Mercedes, if its back together this weekend. I would be able to. Possibly, just to see the mark you have and if she can sit at 130 for a few hours. Thats what I was doing from Wisconsin to Colorado a year ago, on my way back to Fort Carson.

Just wish she wasn't looking the way she is right now I had to take off the lowering springs thanks to some jack @ss in an integra in Colorado hit me so my front end still needs a little work before I can lower it again. 80's bumpers gotta love'um. O-well when I get out of the $hit hole they call a city and get back into school auto body is gonna be my first course so she can look like she did when I bought her. Then buy another Mark for the fact that I have to sell mine to be-able to get home.

If we're doing this I'll keep you posted about the car gettin done so we can set up a weekend to all meet.

Pretty sure all 3.08 cars were 130, all 3.27s were 124ish (same as H and U rated tires, respectively.) Which can, of course, look a few MPH off on an actual speedo.
