I purchased a set of 3/4 length Kooks through SuperCoupe a couple years ago and this was before they offered the stainless steel option so I ended up getting the mild steel with the jet hot coating.

I know the stainless steel works better at controlling temps than the uncoated mild steel, but how does it compare to the Jet Hot coating? Is one more prone to cracking than the other? Are the stainless steel headers any louder as far as picking up any engine noise? And lastly is 304 even really worth it? Everything that I've found claims that you should use 321 grade (I know its double in price) especially when using turbo or superchargers because it has a higher stress tolerance at higher heats opposed to the 304.

I also know that the headers that Bill offer only come with the basic coating (sterling rather than extreme sterling)from Jet Hot. The set that I have already need to be recoated because the coating is flaking off and starting to rust at the collectors after only about 1000 miles . Thankfully Jet Hot is standing behind the issue 100% but I'm not sure what I should do. Will getting them recoated with the next best coating (extreme sterling) be sufficient in stopping this problem or should I go to stainless? I definitely want whats best, but don't want to shell out another grand on headers if what I have will be sufficient?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you contact Jet Hot they will take excellent care of you. There should be a job number of theirs on the header, but they will know what coating Bill spec"s, and how to re-coat your headers. They are a good source.

Headers are louder.

SS exhaust is louder.

I would guess SS headers are loudest.

I've been in contact with them and yes, thier customer service is excellent. I'm just afraid of the rust issue coming back later on down the road. I'm not even sure how they rusted being that the car never sees snow/salt and hardly driven on rainy days. Before they are reinstalled I would like to have some piece of mind that this was just a freak accident or if they are eventually going to rust no matter what.

Thanks for the feedback on the noise question as well. I was thinking that the SS headers might be louder but wanted to see if anyone had some first hand experiences with the two.

I went from mild steel to 304SS Kooks headers on my SC, without a change in the noise level.

The 304SS headers on my LSC don't seem very loud to me.

Yes, 304SS is worth the money.

Did you get the 304SS coated as well or just left plain?

I had both sets Jet-Hot coated using their Extreme Sterling coating to reduce the underhood temps.
