Post something dumb you did or failed to do with your LS.

Ill go first:

Ive been having a loud fan issue for a couple weeks now. So for some reason i bypass checking my coolant level. I cant figure it out....well today on my way to a store i get "check engine temp" and i freak out so i haul ass into walmart.

Pop hood, and i look at the degas bottle..and i realize im an idiot. I buy some prestone 50/50 coolant, fill her up and off we go with quiet fan and normal temp.

How the heck did i forget this?? i fail.

last year i left my 20's on for the snow cuz i got too lazy to bring my stock 16's (at the time) to my job and swap em out

I don't fail! :D

No.. I tried to paint my rear bumper on my own and it looks like crap.. So I have the get the rear bumper and front bumper painted at the same time which I should have done in the first place..

i bet you think it looks like crap but it could easily be corrected, you just need to wet sand and polish, you cant mess up on painting

After reading countless threads on the degas bottle leaking.. mine was leaking and i kept refilling it.. spending like 30 bucks in all on coolant only to have the air bubble get so bad that i couldnt drive the car 5 mins without it over heating.. so when i finally decided that i should go ahead and fix the bottle it took me an hr to drive a 10 min drive away to the shop.. only because i had to keep stopping to let the motor cool down. Hey i learned my lesson. First sign of a leak behind the drivers front wheel.. im at advanced auto buying a bottle.

You're not done yet. Coolant isn't consumed. You have a leak, probably your degas bottle. You need to find and fix the leak before it leads to serious problems. (The only time either of my LSes needed coolant added was when the 2004 had a leak.)

Yeah im gonna drop it off this week and have my cousin give the entire cooling system a look.

I went car shopping and bought an LS.............Just kidding, I love my LS!

my sister scratched my mclaren grille so I ordered some tri-coat paint to fix it. The paint kept getting wider and wider with each coat I would do and I went from having a skittles sized scratch to an oreo sized new paint spot. The paint color isn't 100% matched so it's noticeable able from a few feet away. I'm just going to paint the whole thing so the color is the same.

It was a learning experience.

When I got my KNN CAI, I didn't know how to take the loghts off or that you had to to install the kit. I spent an hour trying to screw the bolt that goes behind the light that hold the heat shield. It took me an hour and a half to do a 20 min job.

Stubborn that the coils were not bad in my car, I kept driving it and jacked up my pcm. Finally when the coils were changed, the shacking came back because I damaged the pcm, well thats what ford said. They tried fixing it but it was when I bought an used pcm and they installed it.

Oh also, my dad and I tried changing the pcm to see if it got rid of the problem like ford said it would. We swap them out, car wont start. Then we thought, it probably has to be programmed, so we put the original pcm back. Now the car wont start with it's original pcm, the ls had to be towed to the dealer to get the new pcm programmed to the car, which fixed the coil issues with new coils.

cleared my headlights and didnt reseal them good enough now it looks like the rain forest in my headlights =[

I have had a problem with my front end and steering wheel wobbling for a while. I changed out both my front hubs, cut the rotors, and changed the brake pads. Still didnt work. I then got my tires balanced and all the problems stopped.

I changed out my master cylinder. I had to obviously bleed the brakes. I was so tired that I had not used the bleeder valve, but instead tried to use the brake line connection nut as the bleeder valve. After three bottles of brake fluid, I thought I had a bad brake cylinder when the brakes would not work at all. About two days later, I looked at it again and found I am the stupidest person on Earth at that time.

I went to change out my rear brake pads. I couldnt get them to compress. I thought they were seized up. I bought a brand new set of rear calipers and installed them. I learned that you have to turn the piston while pressing to get the piston moving.

I am glad I am not the only one that screws up like this. I guess it is part of a thing called life. Lets hope I dont do it again though.

I installed a crappy homemade intake on my LS.. 70 miles later a piece I used to plug the holes left by the factory silencer sucked into my intake and after lots of tearing apart I found it resting on top of a valve.

Learned my lesson and bought the K&N.

damn! i would sue that piece of sh!t company!

didn't read up and when doing my rear brakes the first time, used the $12 autozone brake tool and a 3/8" wrench. Hours of my life I will never get back. Lesson learned!

Wasn't paying attention as I was backing out of my parents driveway and thankfully slowly backed into the neighbors across the streets mailbox and put a small dent that looks like a hail dent in the trunk lid.
