I'm going to check out a 2000 Lincoln LS V8 Sport Package with approximately 115,000 miles on it tomorrow. I don't know much else about the car besides one of the back windows not working, as the car is being sold by a friend of a friend.

Through doing some research today I've found that the transmission is something that I should pay close attention to when test driving the car, but is there anything in particular that I should do or look for? I know the back window issue is just a bad regulator and not much of an issue.

If I buy the car, it will be my DD, so if you have any tips on preventative maintenance it would be much appreciated.

Modding questions.

Where is the best place to purchase the LSE/06 front bumper, Gen 2 headlights, fog lights/fog light bracket?

Do they sell smoked headlights? I really don't like the amber corners, but don't like the clear ones either, especially on a black LS.

Any vendors who sell kits for the "halo" lights, HID(high/low) and fog lights that all match pretty well?

Does anyone have rubbing issues with 20s? What tires are recommended for 20s? I thought about running 22s, but thought that might be too much and destroy the ride quality.

Thank you for any and all input. My plans for the car will be doing audio/video, suede headliner, wheels, LSE conversion, lights, intake, possibly exhaust(don't want this to be loud), and probably have the tint re-done.

Here are a couple pics of my Cobra drop and my 350Z.

Read the owner's manual thread and you're pretty set. Get a shop to check out the ball joints. Listen for the sway bar "thunk". If you've got the time, pull a COP to look for oil. Just check passenger side as it's quick&easy to get to. Turn on A/C and make sure rad fan goes to full speed.
See if the CD changer works. Heat and A/C out both vents. Controls on steering wheel work. Use an OBD reader to check for any codes. Make sure you get two keys and remotes, as adding is an expensive PITA.
And this may be OBE. :)

It may be rice...but its fast rice.

If you know anything about nissan then youll know a stock 350Z is much faster than an LS and it has a smaller engine and less cylinders.

And the 370s are even faster...the VQ is an amazing engine.

eeeh apples and oranges

not a big fan of the 350z. I really like those g35 coupes tho, eventho theyre essentially the same car, but with the g35 you get luxury AND sport

im a fan of the 73 fairlady z nd the r33 gtt, thats about as nissan as i get. the new ones are awesome though, and to anyone who think rice is :q:q:q:q look up dsm shootouts. they have 4 cylinders running much less than 10 second quarters, one or two of them is less than 7 seconds. look up sheptrans he's a guy here in ohio (john shepard). i love my ls but theres no way it'll touch 10 seconds in a quarter and it has twice as much displacement.

Again apples and oranges

i realize they are two different things, but they are all cars so its comparable. if it wasnt what would be the point of a race?

OP it sounds by your description you want a gen2... So why buy a gen1?

Yeah G couples are freakin sweet.

Those and the M Series....Nissan/Infinti is my favorite of imports.

i guess yea because they're both cars they are in a way comparable, but i just think that if your judging cars on the basis of speed, you should at least keep the comparison limited to cars in the same class. i think thats reasonable, no?

and IMO street races are pointless, but im not against them :D

but racing as a sport, idk, entertainment?

Well to be the G35 is the same class as our beloved LS. Weighs just 100 lbs less.

Its a luxury sedan and comes as a coupe. Its even rear wheel drive as well. Theyre just priced about 10K higher when brand new.

www.lskoncepts.com if you want a whole kit. If you know all the parts you need, you can save a few bucks by going to tascaparts

Nope. but you can apply a film like from www.lamin-x.com.

lightwurks will install them for you, bu tyou have to send your lights to them. Otherwise, alax7 on here will do them for you as well. Alax is probably way cheaper, and does an excellent job.

Just say no to 22's. They look way to big on this car. As far as 20's: Depends on offset/width and tire size. You'll want a 40+ offset. Seems a common size for tires with 20's around here is 245/35. I have 19x8's (42 offset), and use 245/35 front, 245/40 rear

nice 350z.

Just put my responses in your post.

Interesting Story (LS vs. G35 Coupe)

So on my way back to school, i was cruising on the highway at about 70, when a g35 coupe flies past me. This thread immediately came to mind.

So i pulled up to his back bumper, i guess when he noticed this he took off. I did the same soon after. I want to make it clear this wasn't a RACE, and im not making comparisons

This went on for a little over a minute, and the last time i checked my speedo i was doing 125+.

Well the interesting part in my opinion, was he took about a 5 car lead when he took off, but when i stepped on it, i was able to catch up to within 1 car length, maybe 1 and half. This was constant for about 30 secs (he didnt pull away and i never got closer), until we both had to slow down.

i would have thought the g35 would have pulled farther (assuming he was also flooring it), guess not. I wonder if the result would have been slightly different if i had my stockers on instead of my 20s, and without 4 cases of water in the trunk.
