So I searched but can't really find anything on my subject?

I have 2 all season tires that are 235/50/R16 if I remember correctly? Anyway they are slightly bigger as in I'm not sure if they would rub at full turn up front. So I wanted to get a set of 225/60HR16 and make sure it wasn't gonna screw with the ABS and the Traction Control with such a small difference?

Anyone play around with big n little's or anything to have a clue?
 
I have no issues with different size tires front to rear at the track with either my '93 or my '96.
 
Anyway I did it and it was a fail :mad:
As soon as I hit the highway it had no power cause the traction control kicked in thinking the car was spinning the rear tires. Seeing as I have 60's on the front and 50's on the rear. It was only like a inch or so difference and now I have to turn of the TC every time I start the car.

So off to get some new tires to mach the backs now :rolleyes:
 
..that's strange.
I ran a 15" T-bird tire as a rear spare once without a problem.

Thats what I was worried about? I'm used to having problems like this from my AWD cars. When I do something like that on my WRX the car pulls all over the road and the LSD in my rear diff is a Cusco so it's like a Detroit Locker :eek:

I actually have people in gas stations stop me to tell me that something is broken in my car. It is that loud from the outside :mad:
PS I got rid of that clutch as it was a nightmare in traffic :rolleyes:

its a gen 1 vs gen 2 thing

gen 1's taper off the trac contro around 23-28 mph. at that speed the small difference in tire speed is too small for the system to notice, but since gen 2's have all speed TC, at higher speeds the percentage difference in speed from front tires to back tires is large enough to trigger the TC, cutting power/and or braking rear wheels.
 
I am running 225 60 on the front and 255 50 on the rear and i have this problem when i give it 1/2 throttle and i have to remember to turn the t/c off.Its annoying for sure.

Yeah every time I forget to turn on the TC I wind up on a Highway and look like a tool pulling over to the shoulder to turn it off :shifty:

Sux that you can't turn it off when you moving either :mad:

From day one, as soon as I get in the car, I shut the TC off. The few times I forgot, was when I needed to pull into traffic,etc and it would nearly stall me out.

I am running a shorter sidewall on the rears of mine, and noticed the TC will flip on, if I don't shut it off.

I will try the 20mph deal and see if it will but if I'm on the highway doin 20 I might as well pull over so I ain't blockin traffic?
 
Nice, just called Pep Boys and they don't have the tires they claim to have in stock at the location near me? Now I gotta go all the way to Edison tomorrow if that store actually has them :confused:
 
I can shut off and turn on my TC going 70mph on the freeway so you can unless you try to do it while the TC is kickin' on...

Yeah so once again I have to hit up Pep Boys or someplace to get some matching front tires.
I should do a bit of online price shopping and see who is the cheapest besides PB?
