Hi Folks,

As to my previous thread I posted about an incendent I had while driving on the florida highway (i95)

Going to work, had a tractor trailor tire shred get kicked up and go through my bottom front grill of the car. Had to get the front bumper conver replaced, new radiator, a/c condensior, transmission lines, a/c lines, skid plate, front c'member, valance panel, radiator supports...

anyways - insurance paid $2,500.. car LOOKED NEW when i drove it off the repair shop..

That night I was going to look at new cars for the Lincoln..... On the way to dealer ship -> BAM another axident!!...

This time, I was getting off the highway, Waiting for off ramp light.. cruised went around the bend to go under a bridge (another light) It was yellow - more than likely red after I got under it..

Older gentleman with an OLD little toyota was already out in the intersection.. Well, I slammed the brakes the whole car locked up and skidded, i pulled e-brake slightly and turned car sideways.... nonetheless STILL HIT HIM -> T boned the guy n driver side.

The lincoln was actually fine. Only scrapes on the driver side bumper for my half, scraped it up pretty bad - I'll post pictures soon.

Well after the matter, I got received TICKET for "careless" driving from the officer. Luckly she was very nice and said she seen the tail end of the incident and Said I did everything that I could... the gentleman refused any help whatsoever and didnt want to talk with anyone..

Lastly... Drove car to dealership - they checked it out... With 116,782 miles on the ticker - I asked for 3,600 for it.. (knew I would get less with the new damage).

They gave me $4,000 for the CAR!!!... phew...

I was looking @ a 2003 Mustang Mach 1 - blue with intake and exhaust... 31,000 miles... They sold that before I had a chance.

Anyways, Due to finance and me having to roll over little over 1 grand into new loan. (pay off was $5,581.11) -- Mainly because of the extra warranties I had purchased with car -- bad mistake.

I picked up a USED 2006 Mercury Montego PREMIER -- Loaded with navi system and sunroof... 31,555 miles on it.

What week.

so you sold your LS because a tire shred and hit your car (which insurance paid for) and because a guy doesn't know how to drive?

^ and to get a mercury montego? R u actually the old guy in the story? lol

How in the world did you go from looking at a Mach 1 to a Montego?

Congrats i guess on the Ford Taurus/Ford 500/Mercury Montego :shifty:

All i have to say is... i bitched an moaned the WHOLE time while at the dealership, sales guy was cool - but before i signed i was complaining and bitching and asking for car fax, online prices etc..

Got the car with 31,555 on the ticker.

2006 merc montego premium - fully loaded - $14,500 + 1800 from old Lincoln + tax, tag title, gap, 3 yr warranty... 20K out the door.

Unfortunately, I HAVE TO settle. When I found out the 2003 mach 1 was sold, i was so pissed - started bitching and ugh.. A younger guy can in with mommy and daddy and bought it for him - either was that or the 2010 roush supercharged.. i dont really know who bought it later but it was gone.

Note: I am young myself =) but older than him - take a guess

Anyways.

I really miss the LS.. I sure do. The montego feels like a minivan / boat. HOWEVER it is comfy as all hell and handles quite well.... and not to mention im getting avg 23 MPG. with mixed driving and 29 highway.. with the '00 LS i was avg 18 around here and if i did ALL highway i would get max 25MPG.

The montego fit my budget right now, ONLY reason why I settled.

Furthermore, I have to pay the ticket and WHO knows what this guy is going to do me to me. Also, if I kept the LS I would have to pay ANOTHER deductible "$500" for collision - just paid $250 for previous. That $500 i DO not have!

---

As for tire blow outs - this is the "second" incident within two years. in '2008 I had a rear tire explode that took out whole rear end of car.

after car was initially purchased -- realized rear door lock did not function - when you lock it - it stays locked - unless you unlock from inside.
at 80k - replaced window actuators
95k - replaced front tie rods, sway links? + new continental tires + new brake pads all around (again)
at 90k, replaced coils, plugs.
at 106,666 miles - Transmission went out - No one local would touch it "I really think it was the solenoid packs" I lost 4th and 5th gear.

at 116k is when the truck tire went through the front of the car.

After picking up the car from collision shop is when the accident happened.

Right now, Im working my ass off to pay bills - like everyone here. I live in Central florida doing computer work - Im a senior technician working on hr / salary (no clue anymore, Not being paid for weekends nor overtime) and only making $10.75 with my certifications.)

bad decision on my behalf eh? Always wanted to "mod" the '00 LS... just never could get enough saved up.

Well congrats on going with the smarter choice in your situation, but sorry to hear you let the ls go.

a lot of that is normal maintenence

Car seems to be more economical for the current situation.

Just received phone call tonight - loan was approved @ lower rate? Finance said my monthly payment will be lower wooho! (believe it should be same as I was paying before)

Anyways, as for the transmission in the '00 LS -- I purchased a used salvage for $600 (59k miles on it) and another $650 for install. -- $1250 for transmission.

The montego doesnt look too bad.....basically a 500.

Yeah, now imagine what lincoln could do with that platform.

I bet it would be a hot car...the mkz is just too small and the mks too big lol.
