So I had to use my truck today to go pick up an engine for my Camaro, my mom is in NY with my step dad's Cadillac so he's been using my truck to drive around in, well while I was gone he had to get blood work done so he took my car and filled it up.... With 87... I didnt realize it when I got back and hopped in my car to pick up a friend to help me out, got on it when we hit the high way, that sounds like pre-det/pinging, WTF! Pull off to the side of the highway, upload the stock tune file. Go to accelerate to merge back on, still there.. Limp it home.. Car sounds like it has some piston slap or a tick of some sort now.. What does he have to say about it all, "Oh I didnt think your slow ass Lincoln needed it because my Cadillac takes 87." It :q:q:q:qing says it right on the gas door!! I backed the timing off the tune file as much as I could and added as much fuel as I could for now, tomorrow morning Im going down the road to get a few gallons of 103 to dump in and mix it all up, should average out hopefully.. I'm. Fuccking. Pist.

I didn't think he was going to drive it, he's the only one besides me that's ever driven it and the one time, he fukked it all up.

i try my hardest not to let any one drive my car and when they take it and say they're going to put gas in it, i just tell them to give me gas money and to not screw around with it and come right home lol that sucks though

the guy i bought my car from was putting in 87 and it had a pinging noise, a couple weeks later and a few fill ups of 93 and it was running fine and the noise went away

When a hurricane storm hit my area the surrounding towns were without electricity for like 6-8 days. For some reason gas stations were all "out of gas" and those that had it were only selling 87 octane. I used it in my 02 LSE at the time and all I noticed during the use of an entire tank of gas was a decrease in gas mileage, about 2 MPG.
Hope using proper octane corrects your problem.

but you guys probably dont have you tune ran right up to the edge like this guy  a little extra timing with way to low of octane is pretty risky

i would even mix the gas, just get the old gas out of there and put in the good stuff, best case scenario, your step dad buys a new motor! it sure as sh!t isn't your fault that he cant read a big sign on the gas door.

103 fixed it for a little while, think I fouled the plugs out tho, running semi rough.. Time to change them out again!

Did you ever mess with the timing after you were done at the track or did you keep it maxed out after you left?

Kept it maxed out for the most part, she's still pinging with out the tune and on 93.. Im gonna check fuel pressure later on today, fuel pump is the culprit now.. ughhhhhh FML
