I have part number from rock auto as TKS17 and also TCS31.. when I ask a parts guy now at 2 different locations they tell me they are the same part however looking at the pics, one has a pigtale and the other does not.. are they the same and either one will work? or are they different and the connectors wont connect?
I can get the one with the pig tail today no problem they have it at autozone and I have a store credit so thats good the other, no one seems to have except rock auto...

ARE THEY DIFFERENT?

I'd prefer the "monoblock" type - 2 unhooked wires are too weak for me...

Am I to beleive that they ARE both the same?
I'm not getting the warm and fuzzy on the answer here.. is there someone who really KNOWS the direct answer...
PLease.. I really want to get this finished ASAP.
Thanks
Bill

Bill, those are two different parts. Are you trying to only buy one part or are you replacing both? The reason one pic has the two square silver boxes is because it is a control solenoid and the other is round and it just sticks down into a hole and has rubber O-rings on it and then it will also be plugged in. The control solenoid also have two spots on it that have small O-rings that they fit into too. Both parts plug in separately.

Ok, now I understand. (NOT) Either way, they are two different parts and control two different things and the wiring harness is already inside Bills transmission. Once he replaces both parts, he would use his existing plugs to plug into each solenoid.

One is a shift solenoid and the other is for the torque converter clutch. So to answer the question and not speaking of wires and preference, they are two different parts. Not the same to choose from.
