need a little help

i want to put a timer on my reverse light almost like a 2 or a 1.5 sec timer so that every time i switch into gear it doesnt trip on the reverse lights how can i go about this ?

You realize they are there so you can see backing up, right?

IIRC, the reverse lights don't illuminate as you pass through reverse.

Unless you are running an HID kit in the backups. Then why would you need this?

I just checked. They don't illuminate on our 2000 or 2006 LSes when switching from "P" to "D".

With that I concur. I, nor my daughter, dally through "R".

yeah but you might now do it all the time but you prolly do once in a while. if i was to do this mod if i would need a delay because if i kept switching them on the ballasts and lights would go

shift faster, and how often are you going through R? it shouldn't be that many times a day, most HID companies now have lifetime warranty's, i don't think that it is worth the trouble

that is true i am just going to have to run them without it for now and see how they hold up i could always install a delay in the future

any circuit you would have to use for the delay would trip the burnt out light warning on the dash (if those bulbs are monitored) which could be even more annoying

you might be able to use a DEI 528T pulse timer relay, i believe that it would do the function that you are looking for. then again it may just delay how long it takes for them to come on (the lights will still come on for a second just a little later)

The backup lamps are apparently not monitored.

A delay circuit shouldn't be that difficult. Do a Google search for DC power delay circuit and you will get a ton of results. Hopefully, one of those will either have a kit you can buy, or a premade solution. You might check a large distribution company like Grainger.

Yes, but you could always get a little fancy with it. How about a circuit that wouldn't turn on the backup lights until you started moving backwards?

why not make it toggle switch so when u want them on there toggled on or off.

i was going to do that for the tail gaiters lol but then it will be a pain to switch on and off when i want to reverse
