My paint code is EX. Its listed as cranberry on the color breakdown chart. But there are cars with same code that are dark cranberry. Body shop told me mine is medium cranberry. In addition 5 years ago I looked at a 93 that was a burgundy color(didn't get the code off the door) with the same color interior. Are there three different shades for EX? i.e. Dark Cranberry, Cranberry, and Medium Cranberry. I know that my car has never been repainted. And I aplogize in advance if this is the stupidest question ever posted here.(I'm sure someone will say it is)

The list on LOD says there is just Cranberry.

the ford paint code is the ford paint code...all cars with code ex would be the same base color. It is prob just people or different paint companies calling it different names. There are also what they call variance chips as well because all shades of a specific paint code are not necessarily the exact same shade. When painting you select the variant or shade closest to what you are painting.

sorry bout the triple post, internet fing up.

show me a picture of your car i will tell you the color. the purple one you listed above , the paint code EX is a ford color called medium cranberry. to my knowledge this color was never used on a mark VIII, but it was used on crown vics and grand marquis, maybe other fords. when i repainted jeffs car above, i just gave them the code off of markviii.org, EX but when they mixed the paint and opened the ca to show me, it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to red and not purple like the factory paint. i wish to god i could remember what the paint code on the door sticker said on jeff's car, but it wasnt EX, the code for drak cranberry metallic does not show up on that chart, i gave them the info back when i painted the car, but no one added it to the list of exterior colors. the purple one i repainted is called DARK CRANBERRY METALLIC. EX cranberry looks more like the picture right above this ^

The second pic is my car. I found another thread where you said your buddy's car is ER. Thanks for your help. I didn't want to order my paint and have show up that dark color. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=38728&highlight=cranberry

Thanks again for your help, I know you are super busy and I appreciate you taking time to help me out. You also have mad skills with a paint gun too.

big red is correct...ford lists EX as cranberry.
no light no dark just cranberry

Yeah I'm guessing that its like Jeb said. Different paint suppliers have different names for the same color. Jaimie's suppliers Dark Cranberry Metallic is ER, Fords burgundy. One place had my code EX listed as Medium Cranberry. This is also what the touch up in the glove box says. Another supplier had it as just Cranberry. Furthermore another had it as Medium Cranberry Pearl.

ok well yours is the first i have seen the lighter shade of cranberry, your color is what i opened the can i had mixed, and saw that, woah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i knew it was wrong, it is a factory color, but i knew jeff's car was way darker. so thats when i found out the 2 different cranberry's ford had. thats correct jeff's car is E.R, E.X is medium cranberry or just cranberry depending who mixes it for you.

I want to see the whole car. That color is beautiful. I would love to see it. Send me the pic in a email if you don't know how to post it.

it doesnt look that far off from a garnett red mark, this is a garnett red 93 i repainted.

BUT........
look how much different wet sanding and buffing new paint, and adding new wheels and sunshine can make the same car look, this is the same car as the pic above, about 2 weeks later!

Thanks will do. That means alot coming from someone who has one of the nicest colors around. I tell you though I looked at one the same color with cranberry interior on the inside and it was not appealing. My grandpa told his best friend that I was looking for a Mark and he sold me his. 1 owner, garage kept, never seen salt or snow and only 60000 miles. I bought it six years ago and have never seen another one this color, besides the one I looked at in Chicago. I probably should have bought the first one too. I'm sure not a lot of Marks came with dark red interior. Its ugly.

Mine has opal grey interior, but the only other Ex car I have ever seen had the same color interior as the outside. At the time I had been looking for a Mark for about a year. It was at a dealership in Lombard IL. It was kinda rough for the $8000 they were asking for it. I should have bought it though. I'm sure it rare because that color interior only really goes with the cranberry exterior or maybe white. Ill be posting pics of my car later today when the wife gets home. Here is the interior listing for cranberry http://www.markviii.org/LOD2/interior.htm

I have heard of the cranberry interior. Would like to see it too. And The second pic with the tarp on it does look like my red garnett glaze car at night.

Yep I should have took pics of the guts. At the time I didn't think about how rare it would be. I also looked at a 95 that was your color with a black cloth top and grey interior. It was super trashed and $5000 or I might have bought it. The tarped car is mine. It is just a little more maroon than garnett glaze. Ill have pics up aroung 5 tonight.
