Ok, so picked up the Mark today - everything is great. Could swap out a few pieces on the interior that have been abused over time, like all the buttons for the windows and such.

Anywyas - I guess the owner left the window down and some rain got in and shorted out the top door speaker - I guess that was causing the battery to die so they took out the fuse for the speakers.

I wanted to investigate this and see what was going on but I cant find the fuse for the speakers - I put a miniature fuse in each slot, but its lose in all of them?!? It looks like the same size, but just wiggles a little and still, no speakers!!

Can anyone help with a Diagram of the fuse panel? Its a 1997 LSC - I cant find one online and would really like to have some sound.

Also, any reason why a speaker short would cause the battery to die? Also, is there a way to disconnect that speaker, it seems built in. I just dont want a fire or something crazy to happen - also, Jamie - if you are watching... new speaker por favor for the driver door in tan :)

Ohh yeah - can anyone tell me why my date/time/settings keep resetting to jan 1st and what not?

ask Markviiiedrea he has my EVTM manual pm him he might be on
also take door panel off to get to speakers

You might want to check the amp in the car because there is no set fuse for speakers. If the amp is bad and staying on then that is why the battery is draining. Also just take the door panel off and unplug the tweeter its not to hard.

I went digging thru the trunk and only found the CD changer , couldnt find the amp.

Im pretty sure the previous owner said fuse!?!?

amp is on top of the trunk go into trunk and look up! just unplug everything from the amp then see if the battery drains, if it doesnt theres your problem, but good luck finding another stock amp ;)

If its the amp ill just swap it with an aftermarket one I have lying around - :q:q:q:q I hope its that cause I need some damn sound!!!

Although u can tell the door panel got wet, so im believing the rain/shortage story

good luck swapping it with aftermarket your better off to run all new speaker wire to the amp and get a LOC or a new deck

you cant swap the stock one for an after market without serious rewiring. i highly doubt water has anything to do with it, if you have no sound, the amp is dead. there are no fuses for speakers, if you have no sound, your amp is either dead, or someone unplugged it because it was going dead.

So, let's begin from the beginning...
1. The shorted speaker cannot cause a drain directly. Through the amp only.
2. There IS a fuse for the amp, 30A maxi under the hood, marked as "SOUND" maybe.
3. The speaker is the same for all years or interior colors (JBL tweeter I mean).
4. If the amp is bad - you can change it only to the same amp, without rewiring.
5. If to change it to aftermarket - full rewire, new headunit & new speakers.
6. The amp is in the trunk, on the special plastic tray under the back shelf. Can be found under the solid plastic cover, wich can be removed by pulling 2 plastic holders. Don't have an exact picture, sorry.
7. Time & month settings does not have anything to do with the sound problems, it's a separate problem.
That's it...

correct expect for #2 new mark viiis have newer jbl speakers! (lol)
and you dont need to get an aftermarket deck, i swapped my speakers and kept the same wires, and have an amp and a sub with the stock deck and it sounds perfect.

Many people here in Russia tryed to make an aftermarket (JVC, Alpine for example) amp to work correctly with stock headunit - no one succeed, all failed. It's because of the differential signal lines between headunit and amp. If you succeed - congrats! Anyway, a new headunit is not a bad idea...
And jbl tweeters - it was about "I want jbl tweeter for TAN interior" ( :) ).

Bang on the amp. Mine died 2 months ago. I hit it once and it is still working. I got a spare now though so when it does die again I can replace it.

I have to agree here ... you will like what you get by just running new wires ... much easier than trying to old wires to a aftermarket amp.

Also ... NickPims - a few years ago there was a guy in Russia that I tried to sell some parts to. Fricken customs screwed it up for him ...

You wouldn't happen to be that guy? LOL ... I told him about LvC...

The news this morning said there was a heatwave in Russia. A whopping 87 degrees.

Hey 87 to me is a heat wave ... LOL ... I like 75 - 80 degrees for my summer days ... Love the 50 - 75 degrees will cool mornings ...

Let's hope that this coming weekend will be in the low 80's.

is the amps hard to find? stock amps that is. i have one im sure i will never put back in speakers too

No, I'm not that guy, I never buy anything from LvC members. Also, I've bought Mark in 2006, if that happend before - it's definetely not me.
Maybe it looks bad, but the wind+36 Celsium is not really a problem, if you haven't to walk somewhere. Conditioner = rulezzz!!
Anyway, I'm a qualified electromechanics engineer, and I know what does differencial signal means regardless to the street temp :)
