ford nut
Local nut case
The Gf and I decided to spend the day before the fourth around the Stillwater area.
Before I left I tossed in a couple cans of r134a...the air was blowing pretty warm and it was getting sticky out.
Thought it would be nice to have the air up to snuff for the drive.
So We hit the freeway put the cruise on for our little 45 mile trip and we both notice a funny smell.
I was wondering if it was the freon I had just put in the car.
About half way into our trip we run into a little traffic and my brake pedal goes right to the floor
It comes up with about four pumps.
First thing that come to my mind is GMANs car going up in flames, so I find the quickest place to pull over wondering why I didn't put a dam fire ext. in my trunk.
I looked the car over and I can't see anything wrong.
Get back in and the brakes pump up good enough so I can get it stopped, so we decide to turn around and bring the dam car home and take hers.
I am thinking the dam booster is shot, maybe a master cylinder.
At this point I am driving back home without the cruise on....and I notice the smell is gone.
Like magic the brakes are back to normal.....no pumping to get the pedal up :shifty:
It has been fine since Sat.
I am not sure the history on the recall on this car.
Right now I disconnect the neg cable when the car is in the garage.
I know....fire is bad.
I found this thread clicky "thanks Chicken"
Time to see if the recall was done on this car.
I can't get it into the dealer until Friday.
