Okay well I've had a long problem with this new air compressor. I had to buy a new one... which came from Eddie at American Air. Since I have got that compressor which I paid Dennis Reinhart here in Florida to do, it has blown 4 relays on me. The original one blew out in less than two hours... took it back and was told it was the relay that blew out, not a bad compressor. So I replace it with another relay which blew within a day and two others from a Mark that had 60,000 miles on it. One lasted a week before it blew.

So I called Eddie directly and he said that you need to get a brand NEW relay which is $120. Now if I get that and it blows out because it was the compressor, I lose $120. personally if the new relay blows like the rest, I don't think the money should come out of my pocket for a defective compressor. What the hell should I do?

My first thought would be that the compressor has a direct short in it. Are you blowing any fuses as well?

No, fuses have been fine. As soon as I put another relay in and start the car, the compressor starts to work but it varies. (2 hours to a week in my case)

Fine. Have Eddie sell you a new relay. He sold you the compressor. So if that relay goes? He should stand behind it. And he will. I would expect at that point he sends a different compressor and reimburses you for the new relay. But that would be between you and him.

And in his defense, compressor relays are crap. Go for an ABS relay (if you go used again). Its the same relay but gets abused A LOT less!

very true..

the abs relay is alot less abused than the air ride relay

i've even swapped weak air ride relays onto the abs and the worked for many thousands if not hundreds of thousands of miles.

Yea I know, I have been pulling both the ABS and the compressor relay from the junk cars. Have one left (60,000 miles) but don't know if its from the ABS or the compressor. I will call him and see what he says.

There is no other reason you would be going through all these relays unless it was installed wrong (kinda hard to do) or something was wrong inside the compressor. I also have one from Eddie with less than 3,000 miles on it and no relay has ever blown on me. Did you have any relay problem before this compressor?
